30703. Synergic hydraulic and nutritional feedback mechanisms control surface patchiness of biological soil crusts on tertiary sands at a post-mining site

- Subject:
- recultivation, pyrite weathering, and bistable ecosystems
- Language:
- Slovak
- Description:
- In a recultivation area located in Brandenburg, Germany, five types of biocrusts (initial BSC1, developed BSC2 and BSC3, mosses, lichens) and non-crusted mineral substrate were sampled on tertiary sand deposited in 1985- 1986 to investigate hydrologic interactions between crust patches. Crust biomass was lowest in the non-crusted substrate, increased to the initial BSC1 and peaked in the developed BSC2, BSC3, the lichens and the mosses. Water infiltration was highest on the substrate, and decreased to BSC2, BSC1 and BSC3. Non-metric multidimensional scaling revealed that the lichens and BSC3 were associated with water soluble nutrients and with pyrite weathering products, thus representing a high nutrient low hydraulic feedback mode. The mosses and BSC2 represented a low nutrient high hydraulic feedback mode. These feedback mechanisms were considered as synergic, consisting of run-off generating (low hydraulic) and run-on receiving (high hydraulic) BSC patches. Three scenarios for BSC succession were proposed. (1) Initial BSCs sealed the surface until they reached a successional stage (represented by BSC1) from which the development into either of the feedback modes was triggered, (2) initial heterogeneities of the mineral substrate controlled the development of the feedback mode, and (3) complex interactions between lichens and mosses occurred at later stages of system development.

30704. Synergistic effect of AlCl3 and kinetin on chlorophyll and protein contents and photochemical activities in detached wheat primary leaves during dark incubation

- Type:
- model:article and TEXT
- Subject:
- aluminium, chlorophyll a fluorescence, electron transport, leaf senescence, and photosystem
- Language:
- Multiple languages
- Description:
- Al3+ in combination with kinetin showed more protection against degradation of chlorophyll (Chl) and protein than Al3+ or kinetin alone during dark-induced senescence in wheat primary leaf segments. MV-dependent whole chain electron transport, photosystem (PS) 2 mediated oxygen evolution, and PS1 activities were also delayed to a greater extent. Absorbed excitation energy distribution was more in favour of PS1 in Al3+ plus kinetin-treated leaf thylakoids at 72 h. and D. Subhan, S. D. S. Murthy.

- Description:
- Changes in the activity of ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase (RuBPC), soluble proteins and l‘*C02 fixation were studied in Vigna sinen.sis L. seedlings grovvn under nonnal and ultraviolet-B (UV-B) enhanced radiations at 10, 20, 30 and 40 ^C. The seedlings grown under nonnal radiation showed a progressive increase in enzyme activity, soluble protein and *‘*C02 fixation with an increase in temperature from 20 to 40 oC, while seedlings grown under UV-B enhanced radiation showed gradual decrease in these parameters with a maximum effect at 20-30 oC, At 40 oC, the inhibition was less. RuBPC activity, soluble protein content and '‘♦CO2 fixation showed parallel increases with increasing period of UV-B treatment at 10 oC, The polypeptide pattem of crude leaf extract showed progressive decrease in the level of 55 and 13 kDa polypeptides with the time of UV-B treatment at 20 and 30 °C. However, no such loss in these polypeptides was observed at 10 oC, and at 40 oC only a marginal loss in the level of 13 kDa polypeptide had occuned.

- Subject:
- fish parasites, species diversity, taxonomy, and identification key
- Language:
- English
- Description:
- A synopsis of 43 nominal species from five genera of tailed Myxobolidae infecting Indian freshwater and marine fishes is presented. The main characteristic of this group is the presence of at least one tail-like caudal process. For each species, relevant morphological and morphometric data are provided, such as the host(s), site(s) of infection within the host and sampling state. A key for the identification of 13 genera of tailed Myxobolidae is also included.

- Description:
- A synopsis of the species of Myxobolus Bütschli, 1882 (Cnidaria, Myxosporea, Myxobolidae) described from 2014 up till now is presented. It includes 122 nominal species described all over the world. For each of the species, the most relevant morphological and morphometric data, as well as data are provided related to the location in the host, type host and type locality. The GenBank accession numbers are provided whenever possible, and the spores were redrawn based on the original descriptions. The bibliography includes all the papers containing the species descriptions.

- Language:
- Czech
- Description:
- Článek se zabývá studiem poměru pohlaví narozených mláďat u hrocha obojživelného (Hippopotamus amphibius) a hrošíka liberijského (Choeropsis liberiensis) chovaných v zoologických zahradách Evropy (hroch) a celého světa (hrošík). U obou druhů jsme zjistili vychýlení poměru pohlaví od vyrovnaného poměru 1 : 1, přičemž u hrocha je to ve prospěch synů a u hrošíka ve prospěch dcer. U každého z obou zkoumaných druhů ovlivňují poměr pohlaví jiné faktory a zřejmě také podmiňuje jiný mechanismus., We studied the birth sex ratio in captive Common Hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius) and Pygmy Hippopotamus (Choeropsis liberiensis). In both species the birth sex ratio differed from 1 : 1. In Common Hippos more sons than daughters were born, whereas the opposite was found in Pygmy Hippos. Various factors affecting the birth sex ratio were analysed and discussed., and Jan Pluháček, Beatrice Steck.

- Description:
- The SynSemClass synonym verb lexicon is a result of a project investigating semantic ‘equivalence’ of verb senses and their valency behavior in parallel Czech-English language resources, i.e., relating verb meanings with respect to contextually-based verb synonymy. 30710. Syntactic forms of the presentation scale and their differentiation
- Creator:
- Dušková , Libuše
- Format:
- Type:
- model:internalpart and TEXT
- Language:
- English and Czech
- Description:
Forma s inverzí a postverbálním postavením podmětu je méně častá, stejně tak existenciálni there s jinými slovesy než be.
