In spite of its relatively brief history, the German Energiewende has changed the electricity mix in Germany substantially; Green electricity from wind, solar, water and biomass now provides the largest contribution to the total electricity consumption. In this respect, the Energiewende can be regarded as an overall success. But in parallel to this scenario, a critical discourse has evolved concerning the socio-political, economical, and legal issues. The congruence of objectives and measures - for example in regards to ensuring security of supply, the expansion of electricity networks, the development of the electricity price and the environmental consequences - in the course of the expansion of electricity generation from renewable sources is the main focus of the socio-political and economic discussion. From a legal perspective, the accelerated phase-out of nuclear energy and the constitutional disputes, regarding the legality of the national orientation of the promotional scheme for green electricity in respect to the integration of the German electricity sector in a European internal market for energy, are in the centre of the debate. Against this background, the present article examines the contribution of the German Energiewende to the resolution of the complex challenges of a developed industrial society.
The subsocial bug Elasmucha dorsalis lays egg masses on the underside of the leaves of female plants of Aruncus dioicus. Each bug straddles her eggs and shields her offspring with her body, until they moult to the 2nd instar. Females that: attended aggregations of 2nd and later instar nymphs feeding on fruit of inflorescences often settled close to the basal part of or just below the aggregation, and faced towards the base of the inflorescence. The nymphal aggregations often Seemed to be too large for females to guard effectively. The position and orientation of females attending 2nd or later instar nymphs probably enabled them to detect predators walking towards the nymphs.
It is well known that the training level of a muscle belongs to the parameters that affect the H-reflex response amplitude. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of training type on H- and T-reflex response parameters. For this purpose, 20 long-distance athletes (group I, test group), 18 short-distance athletes (group II, test group) and 20 non-trained subjects (group III, control group) were involved in this study in which the H- and T-reflex amplitude and latency values were measured. The H-reflex amplitude and latency values found in groups I, II and III were 3.64±0.28 mV and 26.88±1.45 ms, 3.17±0.26 mV and 26.19±1.89 ms, and 6.07±0.34 mV and 26.77±1.32 ms, respectively. The T-reflex amplitude and latency values of the groups I, II and III were 3.30±0.18 mV and 32.01±1.02 ms, 3.11±0.20 mV and 31.47±1.16 ms, 4.24±0.21 mV and 31.47±1.16 ms, respectively. There was no statistically significant difference between the groups with respect to latencies of H- and T-reflexes (p>0.05). In both test groups, the amplitudes of the H-reflex and T-reflex were significantly smaller than the control group (p<0.05). Internal and external features of the head of Ascioplaga mimeta (Coleoptera: Archostemata) were studied with micro X-ray computertomography (µCT) and nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (NMRI). These methods allowed the reconstruction of the entire internal anatomy from the only available fixed specimen. The mouthparts and their associated musculature are highly derived in many aspects. Their general configuration corresponds to that of Priacma serrata (the only other archostematan studied in comparable detail). However, the mandible-maxilla system of A. mimeta is built as a complex sorting apparatus and shows a distinct specialisation for a specific, but still unknown, food source. The phylogenetic analysis resulted in the identification of a new monophylum comprising the genera [Distocupes + (Adinolepis +Ascioplaga)]. The members of this taxon are restricted to the Australian zoogeographic region. The most prominent synapomorphies of these three genera are their derived mouthparts.
Competencies develop and changes throughout a persons life, they can gain or lose, going through various age stages. Their development does not end in youth, but continue on through the adult life. The ability to thing and reflect those thoughts specifically come forward in the center of structure of competency, which grows at the same time as the individual matures. One of the competency types is health competency. Health competency is a relatively new concept; it is not sufficiently researched. Aim of the study was to determine the factors of an adult individual health competency. 827 respondents participated in the study, in the processing of data was used SPSS. Was used factor analysis, analysis of variance with ANOVA and KruskalWallis test and Pearsons correlation. It was found that health competency is affected by several factors. These are: health education, health behavior, and the value of the environment. Each of the sets was distributed to key factors. A "pulse like" increase of cytoplasmic calcium concentration, which is proportional to ionophore concentration, is induced in red cells by exposure to A23187- Different Ca2+ levels are attained depending on cellular calcium buffering power and/or primary active calcium transport activation. We examined the effect of A23187 concentration on potassium loss in neonatal (nRC) as well as in adult red cells (aRC). The increase in ionophore concentration produced an "all- or -none" recruitment in adult cells and a "gradual" one in neonatal red cells. The "gradual" response observed in nRC would suggest that the "all or none" character of the response is not present in red cells during the foetal stages of haematopoiesis.
The Dutch Cabinet published its Housing Market Reform Agenda on 17 September 2013. This paper describes the main features of the Agenda and presents an ex-ante evaluation of this policy document. The introduction of a landlord levy is one of the biggest inconsistencies in this Agenda. The Housing Market Reform Agenda is particularly critical of housing associations. There are good reasons to throw away the bath water, but the baby (= the housing association) should be nurtured.
HPx is a multicomponent reactive transport model which uses HYDRUS as the flow and transport solver and PHREEQC-3 as the biogeochemical solver. Some recent adaptations have significantly increased the flexibility of the software for different environmental and engineering applications. This paper gives an overview of the most significant changes of HPx, such as coupling transport properties to geochemical state variables, gas diffusion, and transport in two and three dimensions. OpenMP allows for parallel computing using shared memory. Enhancements for scripting may eventually simplify input definitions and create possibilities for defining templates for generic (sub)problems. We included a discussion of root solute uptake and colloid-affected solute transport to show that most or all of the comprehensive features of HYDRUS can be extended with geochemical information. Finally, an example is used to demonstrate how HPx, and similar reactive transport models, can be helpful in implementing different factors relevant for soil organic matter dynamics in soils. HPx offers a unique framework to couple spatial-temporal variations in water contents, temperatures, and water fluxes, with dissolved organic matter and CO2 transport, as well as bioturbation processes.
A mathematical and physical model of thermoregulatory mechanisms has been derived and experimental data are presented for the elements of the model. The thermoregulatory range within the neutral zone has been analyzed by regression analysis of the experimental data. The optimal globe temperature and the adaptational shifts in temperature for winter and summer are also given.
