- Description:
- The contemporary strategy of the NATO Armies emphasizes the importance of soldier as the individual. It tries to secure for him the informational and technological domination on the battlefield by means of the modernist technologies. The soldier should be able to fulfil his task under any conditions. The specific assignments of the soldier, the team, the squad, the platoon and the company necessitate the certain technological hierarchization, which reflects off the specific attributes of the infrared radiation detectors. These are situated in the focal plane of the objectives of the optoelectronic systems in the form of the micro detector array (IRFPA - InfraRed Focal Plane Array). and Současná strategie armád NATO vyzdvihuje důležitost vojáka jako jednotlivce.

- Description:
- At the grain-filling stage, net photosynthetic rate (PN), stomatal conductance (gs), and ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylation efficiency (CE) were correlated in order to find the determinant of photosynthetic capacity in rice leaves. For a flag leaf, PN in leaf middle region was higher than in its upper region, and leaf basal region had the lowest PN value. The differences in gs and CE were similar. PN, gs, and CE gradually declined from upper to basal leaves, showing a leaf position gradient. The correlation coefficient between PN and CE was much higher than that between PN and gs in both cases, and PN was negatively correlated with intercellular CO2 concentration (Ci). Hence the carboxylation activity or activated amount of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase rather than gs was the determinant of the photosynthetic capacity in rice leaves. In addition, in flag leaves of different tillers PN was positively correlated with gs, but negatively correlated with Ci. Thus gs is not the determinant of the photosynthetic capacity in rice leaves. and D.-Y. Zhang ... [et al.].

- Description:
- The aim of our study was to investigate adrenocortical function in the context of disease activity and inflammatory status in premenopausal RA females. Adrenal glucocorticoid and androgen responses to the 1 μg ACTH 1-24 test were investigated in 23 premenopausal RA and in 15 age- and BMI-matched healthy females. Twelve RA patients were on low-dose prednisone (<8.5 mg/day). Patients with DAS28>3.2 had lower (p<0.05) total plasma cortisol, 17-hydroxyprogesterone, dehydroepiandrosterone and androstenedione responses in the ACTH test compared to healthy controls. Patients with DAS28>3.2 had lower (p<0.05) dehydroepiandrosterone response in the ACTH test compared to patients with DAS28≤3.2. C-reactive protein (CRP), DAS28, and interleukin (IL)-6 negatively correlated with androstenedione response to ACTH 1-24. Responses of all measured adrenal steroids were lower (p<0.05) in patients on low-dose glucocorticoids compared to healthy controls. RA patients not treated with glucocorticoids had lower total cortisol response (p=0.038) but did not differ in free plasma cortisol in the ACTH test. The results indicate an association of increased disease activity with a decrease in adrenal androgen production in RA and normal cortisol bioavailability in patients not treated with glucocorticoids., R. - Description:
- Winter season temperatures are becoming warmer. However, the transformation of the ice regime on the Vistula River in Toruń has also been affected by river engineering. In particular, the construction and operation of the Włocławek Dam had a significant impact on ice processes. The article presents the results of an analysis determining the contribution of natural and anthropogenic factors to the duration of ice phenomena and ice cover on the Vistula River in the city of Toruń. Compared to the end of the nineteenth century, there has been a reduction in the duration of ice phenomena from 88 to 53 days and of ice cover from 40 to 7 days (in the period of 1882-2011). The article compares the duration of ice cover and winter temperature in three different periods: before the completion of river engineering works (1882-1907); for the controlled river (1908-1969), and for the controlled river with the Włocławek Dam upstream of Toruń (1970-2011). The results showed a significant role of these anthropogenic factors in the changes of the ice cover duration on the Vistula River in Toruń.

- Description:
- Let $S=\lbrace x_1,\dots ,x_n\rbrace $ be a finite subset of a partially ordered set $P$. Let $f$ be an incidence function of $P$. Let $[f(x_i\wedge x_j)]$ denote the $n\times n$ matrix having $f$ evaluated at the meet $x_i\wedge x_j$ of $x_i$ and $x_j$ as its $i,j$-entry and $[f(x_i\vee x_j)]$ denote the $n\times n$ matrix having $f$ evaluated at the join $x_i\vee x_j$ of $x_i$ and $x_j$ as its $i,j$-entry. The set $S$ is said to be meet-closed if $x_i\wedge x_j\in S$ for all $1\le i,j\le n$. In this paper we get explicit combinatorial formulas for the determinants of matrices $[f(x_i\wedge x_j)]$ and $[f(x_i\vee x_j)]$ on any meet-closed set $S$. We also obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the matrices $f(x_i\wedge x_j)]$ and $[f(x_i\vee x_j)]$ on any meet-closed set $S$ to be nonsingular. Finally, we give some number-theoretic applications.

- Description:
- Diabetes mellitus type 2 ranks among the strongest predictors of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) while the association of type 1 diabetes with CVD is more complex. We studied differences between type 1 and 2 diabetic women regarding association of cardiovascular risk factors with preclinical atherosclerosis expressed as intima-media thickness of common carotid (IMT CCA) and femoral arteries (IMT CFA) measured by high resolution ultrasound. Women with type 1 (n=203) and type 2 diabetes (n=123) were examined with regard to the presence of cardiovascular risk factors. In type 1 diabetic women strong association between IMT CCA and body mass index, waist circumference, and total body fat was found in contrast to type 2 diabetic women. In type 2 diabetic women strong association between IMT CCA and fasting glucose, glycated hemoglobin, and atherogenic index of plasma (log TG/HDL cholesterol) was observed in contrast to type 1 diabetic women. In type 1 diabetic women, IMT CFA was associated with body fat in contrast to type 2 diabetic women. Preclinical atherosclerosis in type 1 diabetic women was strongly associated with factors reflecting body fat and its distribution, while in type 2 diabetic women preclinical atherosclerosis was associated with markers reflecting glucose and lipid metabolic disorders., P. - Description:
- The objective of this work is the chemometric quantification of minerals in rocks. A chemometric method was developed for the determination of chlorite, muscovite, albite and quartz in claystones and clay shales using infrared spectroscopy. Bromide pellets and diffuse reflectance were used to measure the infrared spectra; principa l component analysis and partial least-squares regression were used as chemometric methods. Spectral regions (4000-3000 cm-1 and 1300-400 cm-1) containing important spectral information were chosen by principal compone nt analysis. The calibration models were created by a partial least-squares regression. The mean relative error and relative standard deviation were calculated for the assessment of accuracy and reproducibility. The value of the mean relative error was about 10 % for most of the calibration models. The value of the relative standard deviation ranged from 1.1 to 3.0 % for most calibration models based on diffuse reflectance spectra and from 4.0 to 9.2 % for most calibration models based on spectra obtained with bromide pellets., Michal Ritz, Lenka Vaculíková, Eva Plevová, Dalibor Matýsek and Jiří Mališ., and Obsahuje bibliografické odkazy
