The study aimed to investigate the role of aggression and impulsivity in smoking among male adult students. It was hypothesized that there would be significant difference between smokers and non- smokers on the traits of aggression and impulsivity. The sample of two hundred male adult students was selected from different universities of Islamabad. Two subscales of Impulsiveness and Aggression were administered to measure the personality traits of aggression and impulsivity. Descriptive statistics and t-test was calculated for analysis of data. Results showed that there is significant differences in aggression and impulsivity between smokers and non-smokers. In the last decade the health of young people in Ukraine as well as in many other countries of the world significantly deteriorated according to the results of screening tests. Because of this the main task of prophylactic medicine is development and introduction of new methods of early diagnostics of diseases. The aim of the work to assess the peculiarities of adaptation of students with different types of vegetative regulation. Material and methods: 415 second year students of Lugansk State Medical University were tested. The mechanisms of physiological functions of the body regulation were assessed by registration of cardiac rhythm variability (CRV). Analysis of CRV was performed by three methods: statistical, geometrical, and spectral analysis. The express method proposed by Shlyk, N.I. (2009) was later used to determine the prevailing type of vegetative regulation. To assess adaptability the method of R.M. Baevskij (1979) was used. Results: In the result of investigation 4 types of functional states of regulatory systems were determined: I type 295 (71 %) of tested, II in 14 (3 %), III in 96 (23 %) and IV only in 10 (2%). I type of functional state of regulatory systems in the wakeful state at rest was characterized by moderate prevalence of central regulation of heart rhythm (MPCR), decreased activity of autonomic regulation. It was noticed that some of the parameters of CRV (like RR, SDNN, RMSSD and pNN50) which characterize autonomic regulation, were statistically lowere (р≤0.01) compared to type III, and some (like AMo and SI) higher, in both female and male students. Summarized spectrum capacity and components of its wave structure (HF, LF, VLF) which characterize central regulation were statistically significantly lower (р≤0.01) for the I type of regulation compared to the III one which is characterized by moderate prevalence of autonomic regulation of the heart rhythm. In female students with type I autonomic regulation compared to male students such CRV parameters as RR and AМo were statistically significantly lower (р≤0.05), while the parameters of total potency (TP) and high frequency waves (HF) were higher (р≤0.05), which could point to more centralized heart rhythm regulation in male compared to female. The evaluation of regulatory systems overstress allowed to determine the state of adaptation and risk of overstress or breakdown in students with different types of autonomic regulation. Východiska: Vzhledem ke geriatrizaci ošetřovatelské péče se ageismus stává často diskutovaným tématem. Z tohoto důvodu je velmi důležité, aby nelékařští zdravotničtí pracovníci byli v tomto ohledu dostatečně vzděláváni, protože právě dostatečná informovanost a praktická zkušenost může ovlivnit míru inklinace k ageistickým postojům. Cíl: Cílem výzkumného šetření bylo zhodnotit ageistické postoje u studentů středních zdravotnických škol v závislosti na škole a ročníku, kterou respondenti navštěvovali a zjistit rozdíly ve vnímání seniorské populace. Metody: V souladu s cíli práce byl proveden kvantitativní výzkum formou dotazníkového šetření. Na základě bodového ohodnocení odpovědí v dotazníku byla zjištěna míra ageistických postojů u respondentů. Výsledky: Práce prokázala, že je statisticky významný vztah mezi ageistickými postoji u studentů a jejich příslušností ke střední škole. Stejně tak byl prokázán rozdíl mezi ageistickými postoji u studentů druhých a čtvrtých ročníků středních zdravotnických škol. Závěry: Z práce vyplývá, že ve sledovaném souboru se u většiny studentů objevuje střední inklinace k ageistickým postojům s ohledem na navštěvovanou školu. Dále pak, že k ageistickým postojům inklinují více studenti čtvrtých ročníků, kteří již absolvovali odbornou praxi u lůžka nemocného, než studenti druhých ročníků, kteří tuto praxi ještě neabsolvovali., Background: Due to geriatrization of nursing care becomes oen discussed theme. It is that sufficient awareness and practical experience that can affect the rate of inclination to ageist attitudes. Objective: e objective of this research was to evaluate ageist attitudes of nursing school students according to school which the respondents visited and find out the differences in perception of senior population among the students of second and fourth grade. Methods: Due to the aims of this work the quantitative research has been done through a questionnaire survey. e rate of ageist attitudes was observed based on scoring responses. Results: A statistically significant relationship between symptoms of ageist attitudes this work proved as well as the differences between symptoms of ageist attitudes among second and fourth grade students. Conclusions: e work shows that in the sample survey, the majority of students appearing middle inclination to the myths of old age. Cíl: Posoudit efekt samoléčby a autodiagnózy dysmenorey u studentek univerzity v Maiduguri. Metody: 289 studentek trpících dysmenorhoeou z celkového počtu 25 000 studentek univerzity v Maiduguri ze státu Borno, Nigerie, bylo randomizováno k léčbě dysmenorey. Studentky byly vybrány na základě dotazníku, který vyplnily v lednu 2011. Výsledky: Střední věk ± směrodatná odchylka (SD) účastnic byl 22.50 ± 3.12 roku. 112 (38.8 %) užívalo analgetika a nefarmakologické prostředky k tišení bolesti, buď současně, nebo následně (p < 0.001). Nejčastějšími nemedikamentózními prostředky byly horká lázeň (15.2 %) a ohřívací dečka umístěná na podbřišek (5.5 %). Nejčastějšími léky byly nesteroidní antirevmatika (NSAID) užívané při nástupu menstruace. V 72 % byla léčba účinná, ve 4.2 % nebyla. Většina účastnic se medikovala sama a nezabývala se možnými vedlejšími účinky (p < 0.001). Většina účastnic (63 %) utratila 300 Nigerijských Naira a méně (1.9 US Dolarů a méně) za léčbu dysmenorey. Závěry: Výsledky potvrdily, že NSAID byly nejčastěji užívané medikamenty k léčbě dysmenorey, ale většinou bez znalosti potencionálních vedlejších účinků. Proto doporučujeme zapojení profesionálních zdravotníků do tohoto procesu., Objective: This study was performed to evaluate self-medication for the treatment of self-diagnosed dysmenorrhoea among a group of University of Maiduguri female students. Methods: The population of this randomized study was 289 female students suffering from dysmenorrhoea out of over 25 000 students attending a college of medicine and eight non-medical faculties of university of Maiduguri in Borno state, Nigeria. The students were interviewed using a self-administered pre-tested structured questionnaire in January, 2011. Results: The Mean ± Standard Deviation (SD) of age of the participants was 22.50 ± 3.12 years. Significant number 112 (38.8%) of participants use drugs to remedy menstrual pains followed by non-drug therapy while few combine both the drug and non-drug therapy for the pain management (p < 0.001). The most common non drug remedies employed by the participants were taking a hot bath (15.2%) and placing a heating pad on abdomen (5.5%). However, the most common drugs used by the participants were Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) which were usually taken orally at the onset of menstruation. Among the participants that used drug, 72% found it effective while 4.2% reported ineffectiveness. Significant majority of the participants usually self-prescribed their drugs, and were ignorant of the common side effects of these drugs (p < 0.001). Most participants (63%) spent 300 Nigerian Naira and below (1.9048 US Dollar and below) on drugs for dysmenorrhoea every month. Conclusion: The results confirmed that NSAIDs were the most common drugs used for dysmenorrhoea treatment, but frequently used without knowledge of potential side effects due to self-medication. Cíl: Cílem šetření bylo zjistit, jak studenti ošetřovatelství hodnotí svoji klinickou praxi, spolupráci s mentorem, jaké aspekty ovlivňují jejich spokojenost s praxí a jak se hodnocení praxe liší na jednotlivých odděleních. Metodika: Výzkumný soubor zahrnoval 59 studentů druhého a třetího ročníku oboru všeobecná sestra. Dotazníkové šetření bylo realizováno standardizovaným nástrojem pro hodnocení klinické výukové prostředí a supervize CLES (Saarikoski, 2002) po absolvované klinické praxi studentů (2008). Výsledky: Byly potvrzeny rozdíly v hodnocení supervize a klinického výukového prostředí vzhledem k typu oddělení, kdy interní oddělení byla studenty hodnocena kladněji. Studenti hodnotili nejvyššími známkami dimenzi ošetřovatelská péče na oddělení, nejhůře pak vztah mezi mentorem a studentem. Současně byly potvrzeny pozitivní korelace mezi celkovou spokojeností studentů a jejich hodnocením. Statisticky významné vztahy byly identifikovány mezi zátěží sester na oddělení a hodnocením studentů – s vyšší fyzickou zátěží sester byla supervize a klinické výukové pracoviště hodnoceno kladněji. Závěr: Výsledky šetření ukazují na význam supervize a kvalitního klinického výukového prostředí pro ošetřovatelské praxe. Praktická výuka tvoří významnou část vzdělávacího programu sester, a proto je nezbytné sledovat zkušenosti a reflexe studentů., Objective: The aim of this study was to find out how nursing students evaluate their clinical practice, co-operation with the mentor, what aspects affects their satisfaction with the practice and how the evaluation of practice varies from wards. Methods: The sample comprised of 59 nursing students of the second and third year of study. The survey was realized by standardized Clinical Learning Environment and Supervision instrument CLES (Saarikoski, 2002) after the completion of students clinical practice (2008). Results: Differences were confirmed in the evaluation of the supervision and clinical learning environment depending on the type of wards, when the internal wards were evaluated by students more favourably. Students rated the dimension of nursing care at the word the highest marks, the lowest was rated the relationship between mentors and students. At the same time were confirmed positive correlations between students’ overall satisfaction and their evaluation. Statistically significant relationship were identified between the nurses´ workload in the wards and students´ assessment – with the higher workload of nurses was the supervision and clinical learning environment evaluated more favourably. Conclusion: The results of survey show the importance of clinical supervision and quality of clinical learning environment for nursing practice. Autoři ve svém příspěvku uvádějí první výsledky šetření, které bylo zaměřeno na zjištění hmotností školních tašek chlapců a dívek 1. a 2. tříd základních škol v olomouckém regionu. Celkem byla zjištěna hmotnost u 502 školních tašek, změřeno 502 dětí (263 dívek a 239 chlapců). Z výsledků měření je zřejmé, že hmotnost tašky se zvyšuje s postupem žáků do vyšší třídy. Největší rozdíl mezi minimální a maximální hodnotou hmotnosti tašky byl zjištěn u 8letých dívek, činil 8,9 kg. Výsledky ukázaly, že procentuální podíl hmotnosti tašky doporučeným 10 % tělesné hmotnosti dítěte odpovídal pouze u 17,5 % dětí. 82,5 % dětí pak nosí aktovky těžké (10–20 %), přičemž 18,3 % dětí nosí aktovky o hmotnosti nad 20 % své tělesné hmotnosti, což už lze považovat za extrémně těžké. Nepřiměřená hmotnost školní tašky pak může ovlivňovat držení těla a výskyt bolesti zad., Effects of the weights of school bags carried by pupils from the first two classes of primary schools in the Olomouc region (502 schoolbags belonging to 263 girls and 239 boys) on the pupils’ posture were examined. The weight of the schoolbags of pupils from the 2nd year class was found to be higher than of pupils in the first year. The greatest difference between minimum and maximum weights (8.9 kilograms) was detected in the schoolbags of 8 year old girls. Only 17.5% of children carried bags that were within the recommended 10% of the child’s body weight. Prevalencia funkčných porúch oporného a pohybového systému u školskej populácie sú predpokladom štrukturálnych zmien, ktoré sú v dospelosti mnohokrát aj dôvodom invalidizácie, o čom vypovedajú aj štatistiky zdravotných poisťovní na Slovensku. Preto včasná diagnostika a prevencia u detí a mládeže realizovaná cez cielené pohybové programy s kompenzačným účinkom sú jednou z možností, ako predísť uvedeným skutočnostiam v neskoršom veku. Štúdia prezentuje čiastkový cieľ a úlohy s intenciou vplyvu intervenčného pohybového programu na pohyblivosť chrbtice ako jedného z ukazovateľov funkčného stavu pohybového systému u žiačok štvrtých ročníkov stredných škôl v rámci vyučovacích hodín telesnej a športovej výchovy, s cieľom rozšíriť poznatky z oblasti účinku a významu pohybových programov s kompenzačným zameraním aj v obsahu telesnej a športovej výchovy. Nami zvolený experimentálny súbor tvorili žiačky štvrtého ročníka strednej školy mesta L. Mikuláš. Z hľadiska metód získavania údajov sme použili štandardizované metódy hodnotenia vybraných determinantov pohybového systému opierajúce sa o pedagogickú a medicínsku prax, kde získané kvalitatívne a kvantitatívne údaje hodnotenia dynamickej funkcie chrbtice sme spracovali parametrickým t-testom pre závislé pozorovanie a celkovú svalovú rovnováhu chí-kvadrát testom. Výsledky signifikantne (p<0,01) preukázali vplyv nami zvoleného pohybového programu na sledovaný determinant pohybového systému v súbore žiačok, čím sme potvrdili účinnosť pohybového programu s kompenzačným zameraním na pohyblivosť chrbtice v sagitálnej a laterálnej rovine, ako aj na a celkovú svalovú rovnováhu a možnosti jeho využitia v obsahu vyučovania telesnej a športovej výchovy., Prevalence of functional disorders of the musculoskeletal apparatus in the school population is a precondition for structural changes and often the cause of invalidity in adulthood in Slovakia. Also statistics of health insurance companies correspond with this fact. Therefore, early diagnosis and prevention in children and youth carried out through exercise programs are one of the options of prevention of these facts in later age. The study presents a partial objective and tasks with the intention of the intervention exercise programme to influence selected determinants of the muscul oskeletal system in female pupils of fourth grades at secondary schools within lessons of physical education, with the possibility to extend the knowledge about the effect and significance of exercise programs as a part of physical education. Our selected test group consisted of female fourth grade pupils at secondary schools in L. Mikuláš. As to methods for obtaining data we used standardized methods of evaluation of selected musculoskeletal apparatus determinants based on pedagogical and medical practice. We processed the obtained qualitative and quantitative data of evaluation of the dynamic function of the spine with the aid of the parametric t-test for dependent observation and the Chi-square test for overall muscle balance. Sexualita je nedílnou součástí lidského chování. Nevhodné sexuální chování však může znamenat ohrožení zdraví tělesného, psychického i sociálního. Mladí lidé jsou v tomto ohledu zvláště zranitelní, na druhé straně je faktem, že dnešní mladá generace má ve srovnání se svými rodiči zcela odlišný přístup k informacím. Cílem předkládané práce bylo pomocí dotazníkového šetření zjistit postoje vysokoškoláků k moderním formám antikoncepce, jejich preference při užívání antikoncepce a zkušenosti mladých žen s užíváním hormonální antikoncepce. Současně bylo zjišťováno, jaký je hlavní zdroj informací v této oblasti a jaký je průměrný věk prvního pohlavního styku i použití antikoncepce v průběhu prvního pohlavního styku. Výzkumné šetření jsme realizovali pomocí dotazníkového šetření v průběhu roku 2010–2011. Sledovaný soubor tvořilo 544 respondentů (84 mužů a 460 žen) ve věku 19–24 let, studentů Pedagogické fakulty Univerzity Palackého v Olomouci. Nestandardizovaný dotazník obsahoval devět polootevřených otázek. Výsledky výzkumu ukázaly, že hlavním zdrojem informací v otázkách sexuality, plánovaného rodičovství a antikoncepce je v současné době pro mladé lidi škola, přátelé a tiskoviny. Dále bylo zjištěno, že 88,6 % respondentů považuje moderní antikoncepci za přirozenou součást sexuálního života. Hormonální antikoncepci považuje za vhodný a přijatelný způsob ochrany před nežádoucím početím 45,2 % mužů a 78,0 % žen. Volba antikoncepce je u 52,39 % žen a 8,33 % mužů výsledkem samostatného rozhodování, u 42,39 % žen a 65,48 % mužů výsledkem vzájemné dohody partnerů. 33,3 % mužů uvedlo, že jako nejčastější antikoncepční metodu používají kondom a 19 % mužů odpovědělo, že jejich partnerky používají hormonální antikoncepci. 69,1 % žen odpovědělo, že nejčastěji aplikují jako účinnou metodu ochrany početí hormonální antikoncepci. Překvapivě hodně respondentek uvádělo negativní zkušenosti s užíváním hormonální antikoncepce. Nejčastěji šlo o nárůst tělesné hmotnosti (31,5 %), změny nálad či deprese (15,3 %) a pokles libida (7,3 %). Zkušenosti s trombózou uvádělo 5 žen (1,6 %). Průměrný věk prvního pohlavního styku respondentů byl zjištěn u žen ve věku 16,9 roků a 17,1 roků u mužů., While sexuality is an integral part of human behaviour, inappropriate sexual behaviour may threaten physical, psychological and social health. Young people are particularly vulnerable, and yet, in comparison with their parents, today's young generation has a completely different access to information. Using a questionnaire survey, the present study aimed at identifying the attitudes of college students to modern contraceptive methods, their preferences in the use of contraceptives, and the experience of young women with hormonal contraception. Additionally, it sought to define the main source of information regarding this area, the average age of first sexual intercourse, and the use of contraception during the first sexual intercourse. The research was carried out from 2010 to 2011 with the help of a questionnaire survey. The researched group consisted of 544 respondents (84 men and 460 women) aged 19 to 24, students of the Faculty of Education, Palacky University in Olomouc. The non-standardised questionnaire contained nine semi-open questions.The research findings showed the school, friends, and the press to be the main source of information about sexuality, family planning, and contraception for young people today. Furthermore, the study established that 88.6% of the respondents considered modern contraception a natural part of their sex life. Hormonal contraception is deemed an appropriate and acceptable method of birth control by 45.2% men and 78.0% women. Decision about the contraceptive method is made independently by 52.39% women and 8.33% men, while for 42.39% women and 65.48% men the choice is the result of an agreement between partners. In the survey, 33.3% men said they used a condom as the most common contraceptive method; 19% men responded that their partner was using hormonal contraception. Hormonal contraception was most frequently applied by 69.1% women as an effective method of birth control. A surprisingly high number of respondents reported negative experience with hormonal contraception. Most often this concerned weight gain (31.5%), mood swings or depression (15.3%), and decreased libido (7.3%). Five women (1.6%) reported having suffered thrombosis. Cieľom príspevku bolo popísať vybrané formy rizikového správania u adolescentných respondentov, ako konzumáciu alkoholu, fajčenie cigariet, užívanie marihuany a iných drog. Získanie empirických údajov bolo realizované za využitia metódy dotazníka v súbore 387 študentov stredných škôl v období strednej a neskorej adolescencie. Potvrdil sa nám štatisticky významný vzťah medzi vekom adolescenta a fajčením cigariet (p < 0,05) pitím piva, vína a liehovín (p < 0,05). Potvrdil sa nám štatisticky významný rozdiel medzi pohlaviami pri pití piva, vína a liehovín (p < 0,05) a fajčením marihuany (p < 0,05). V primárnej prevencii abúzu návykových látok má uplatnenie aj ošetrovateľstvo, kde sestra môže realizovať skríning ich konzumácie a cielené intervencie, ako edukáciu., The main purpose of present study was to describe chosen types of risk behaviour in adolescents, as are alcohol consumption, smoking of cigarettes, marihuana and drug use. Acquisition of empiric data was realised questionnaire method in a sample 387 students from secondary school in middle and late adolescence. It was confi rmed statistically signifi cant relation between age of adolescent and cigarette smoking (p < 0,05), alcohol drinking (beer, wine, hard liquors) (p < 0,05). It was confi rmed statistically signifi cant diff erence between gender in alcohol drinking (p < 0,05) and marihuana use (p < 0,05).
