- Description:
- The present-day sea-level rise is a major indicator of climate change. The sea level in European seas has risen at a rate of 2.5 to 4 millimeters per year (von Schuckmann et al., 2018). The aim of this paper is to present the sea level variability in the Baltic Sea, as based on satellite altimetry. For this purpose, the paper presents a methodology of the investigation of the Baltic Sea level changes based on the Optimum Dataset (OptD) method. The OptD method was used to identify characteristic points from the analyzed data set. For detailed theoretical and empirical tests, the sea level anomaly was used. The time series were created from the data set after introducing the OptD method, in the period from January 1993 to December 2017. The time series are then used to characterize sea level trends, and inter-annual and semi-annual variability in the Baltic Sea region. The results prove that the linear change is higher at points which are located in the northern part of the Baltic Sea, while it is lower at points located in the western part of the Baltic Sea. The average trend is 4.1±0.2 mm/yr. However, the annual cycles in the sea level variations measured by altimetry reach maximum values in approximately the same months (November/December) in the whole Baltic Sea area. We find that there occur substantial regional deviations in sea level depending on the latitude and longitude. Our results confirm the need for research into the sea level variability in the Baltic Sea region.

- Language:

- Description:
- We present simple proofs that spaces of homogeneous polynomials on Lp[0, 1] and ℓp provide plenty of natural examples of Banach spaces without the approximation property. By giving necessary and sufficient conditions, our results bring to completion, at least for an important collection of Banach spaces, a circle of results begun in 1976 by R. Aron and M. 2825. Banach-valued Henstock-Kurzweil integrable functions are McShane integrable on a portion

- Subject:
- Henstock-Kurzweil integral and McShane integral
- Language:
- English
- Description:
- It is shown that a Banach-valued Henstock-Kurzweil integrable function on an m-dimensional compact interval is McShane integrable on a portion of the interval. As a consequence, there exist a non-Perron integrable function f : [0, 1]2 −→ R and a continuous function F : [0, 1]2 −→ R such that (P)∫ x0{ (P) ∫ y 0 f(u, v) dv } du = (P) ∫ y 0 { (P) ∫ x 0 f(u, v) du } dv = F(x, y) for all (x, y) ∈ [0, 1]2.

2826. Banaschewski’s theorem for generalized $MV$-algebras

- Subject:
- generalized $MV$-algebra, representability, congruence relation, and unital lattice ordered group
- Language:
- English
- Description:
- A generalized $MV$-algebra $\mathcal A$ is called representable if it is a subdirect product of linearly ordered generalized $MV$-algebras. Let $S$ be the system of all congruence relations $\rho $ on $\mathcal A$ such that the quotient algebra $\mathcal A/\rho $ is representable. In the present paper we prove that the system $S$ has a least element.

- Description:
- During vertebrate evolution, structural changes in red blood cells (RBC) and hemoglobin (Hb), have probably resulted in the importance of blood carbon dioxide transport. The chloride/bicarbonate exchange across the RBC membrane, which is an integral part of the blood CO2 transport process in vertebrates, has been examined on two different species of teleost fish, Euthynnus alletteratus and Thunnus thynnus, at several oxygenation states of erythrocyte HOS (high-oxygenation state, about 90 % of saturation) and LOS (low-oxygenation state, about 15 % of saturation). The results were compared with those observed in human RBC under the same experimental conditions and with the chicken (Gallus gallus) erythrocytes, which have particular modifications at the N-terminus of the band 3 protein (B3). In fish the kinetic measurements have shown a different anion transport in several oxygenation states of erythrocytes, indicating that also at lower levels of vertebrate evolution there exists a modulation of the anionic flow affected by oxygen. The functional correlation of anion transport to changes of parts of the hemoglobin sequence responsible for alterations in the interactions with the cytoplasmic domain of band 3 protein (cdb3) allowed us to suggest a hypothesis about fish physiology. The highest values of kinetic measurements observed in fish have been attributed to the metabolic need of the RBC in response to the removal of CO2 that in teleosts is also of endogenous origin., A. - Subject:

- Language:
- Slovak
- Description:
- The problematics of creation and development of bank erosion, follow-up repairs of abrasion damaged banks and development of abrasion progress prognostic methods is often discussed. One of the contributions to this discussion is presentation of ''Modificated Methods of Abrasion Terminal Line Determination''. The prognosis of bank erosion advance is determined also in areas, where original condition of bank is unknown. This method was successfully verified during years 1998-2001 at Brno Reservoir on the Svratka River and can be used at other dam reservoirs as well. and O problematice vzniku a rozvoje břehové abraze, o návrzích následné sanace abrazí poškozených břehů a vývoji prognostických metod postupu abraze se v posledních letech diskutuje stále častěji.

- Language:

- Description:
- This paper focused on predicting the bank erosion through the Bank Assessment for Non-point source Consequences of sediment (BANCS) model on the Tŕstie water stream, located in the western Slovakia. In 2014, 18 experimental sections were established on the stream. These were assessed through the Bank Erosion Hazard Index (BEHI) and the Near Bank Stress (NBS) index. Based on the data we gathered, we constructed two erosion prediction curves. One was for BEHI categories low and moderate, and one for high, very high, and extreme BEHI. Erosion predicted through the model correlated strongly with the real annual bank erosion – for low and moderate BEHI, the R2 was 0.51, and for high, very high and extreme BEHI, the R2 was 0.66. Our results confirmed that the bank erosion can be predicted with sufficient precision on said stream through the BANCS model.
