14. On application of choquet integral in possibilistic information theory

- The aim of this paper is to introduce the Choquet integral representation of some information quantities in the possibility theory. A possibilistic T-independence concept is further analyzed with respect to its information-theoretic properties. The main result is then the introduction of a so called general ineasure of T-dependence. It is further proven that the general measure of T-dependence exhibits significant properties froin an information-theoretic point of view and can be conceived as an apt analogy of the well-known probabilistic inutual information.

- The paper deals with the problem of affected flow series in non-homogeneous conditions. The impact on water resources utilization is also discussed. The investigation has been based on the assumption that it is impossible to obtain ''pure'' homogeneous flow series by means of elimination or ''purification'' of anthropogenic factors. This is a good reason for application of maximum entropy, which is a suitable tool for the expression of maximum uncertainty due to affected flow series. A case study presents the results of the investigation of water reservoir function under the influence of anthropogenic factors. and Studie zkoumá problematiku ovlivněných průtokových řad v nehomogenních podmínkách a jejich dopady na využití vodních zdrojů. Vychází z předpokladu, že očištěním řad od antropogenních faktorů se nemusí vždy získat zcela neovlivněná a homogenní řada, protože nebyly k dispozici potřebné podklady. Využívá se princip maximální entropie, který za jistých podmínek připouští v dané náhodné řadě největší míru neurčitosti v rozložení pravděpodobnosti. Studie uvádí výsledky srovnávací analýzy dopadů různých modelů ovlivnění na zásobení funkcí nádrží.

- The paper presents a new view of the problems of relationships between complexity, credibility and uncertainty of the mathematical models that have not been investigated enough up to now. The aim of the study was to find possibilities of quantification of these relationships by means of probability theory and information theory methods. The study stems from the papers published by Conant and Klir which initiate an investigation into uncertainty of the large systems and their models. The study also analyses the bounds of application of this approach. The practical contribution of these methodical approaches lies in the intensification of analysis of the optimal model structure, in the possibility of their simplification, and in the choice of the best appropriate model according to required properties. In the application part the paper deals with the optimal structure of the linear regression stochastic model of the mean monthly flows in the Odra basin. and Studie nabízí nový pohled na zatím málo prozkoumanou problematiku vzájemných vztahů některých vlastností matematických modelů, zejména jejich složitosti, důvěryhodnosti a neurčitosti. Cílem výzkumu bylo ukázat na možnosti kvantifikace těchto vztahů metodami teorie informace a teorie pravděpodobnosti. Studie vychází především z prací Conanta a Klira, které vytvářejí základ zkoumání neurčitosti velkých systémů a jejich modelů, a analyzuje meze použití těchto přístupů. Praktický přínos nových metodických postupů je v prohloubení analýzy optimální struktury modelů, v možnosti jejich zjednodušení a ve výběru nejvhodnějšího modelu podle jeho požadovaných vlastností. V aplikační části se studie zabývá optimální strukturou lineárního regresního stochastického modelu řad průměrných měsíčních průtoků v povodí Odry.

- The family Pλ of absolutely continuous probabilities w.r.t. the σ-finite measure λ is equipped with a structure of an infinite dimensional Riemannian manifold modeled on a real Hilbert. Firstly, the relation between the Hellinger distance and the Fischer metric is analysed on the positive cone Mλ+ of bounded measures absolutely continuous w.r.t. λ, appearing as a flat Riemannian manifold. Secondly, the statistical manifold Pλ is seen as a submanifold of Mλ+ and Amari-Chensov α-connections are derived. Some α-self-parallel curves are explicitely exhibited.

18. Sixty years of Cybernetics: From youthful to useful

- This year coincides with the 60-year anniversary of the publication of Norbert Wiener's seminal book: , in which he introduced, under the name "cybernetic", a host of radically new ideas and views regarding science, engineering, and other areas of human affairs that emerged shortly after World War II. It is thus appropriate for a journal whose title is , the Czech name for cybernetics, to use this anniversary for reflecting on the evolution of cybernetics during the last 60 years. In this essay, which I was invited to write for on this occasion, I intend to express my personal opinion about what I consider the most important ideas of cybernetics from among those suggested and discussed by Wiener in his book. In addition, I intend to trace the evolution of these principal ideas, especially in the United States, since the publication of Wiener's book.
