Příspěvek je věnován systémům váhových jednotek v pravěké Evropě a ve Středomoří. Během střední a počátku pozdní doby bronzové (16.–13. stol. př. Kr.) platily po většině Evropy v podstatě váhové jednotky mykénské, ve 12.–11. století př. Kr. předovýchodní šekely a na začátku doby železné existoval větší počet měrných systémů lokálních. Tvary závaží jsou mnohdy různé, společné jsou váhové systémy. Jejich studium je jednou z cest, jak přejít od archeologie objektů k archeologii idejí. and This paper is devoted to the systems of weight units in prehistoric Europe and the Mediterranean. During the Middle Bronze Age and the beginning of the Late Bronze Age (16th – 13th centuries BC) Mycenaean weight units were used for metals in most parts of Europe. In the 12th – 11th centuries BC these were replaced by Near Eastern shekels, and a number of local weight systems existed in the Early Iron Age Europe. While the weight units are the same, the shapes and materials of the weights differ. A study of weight systems is one approach to enlarging the field of study from archaeology of objects to archaeology of ideas.
