2. Evaluation of recent goce geopotential models over the area of Poland

- The dedicated satellite gravity missions have provided homogeneous and uniformly accurate information on the long and medium wavelengths of the Earth’s gravity field. Since the launch of GOCE satellite gravimetry mission by the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2009, several global geopotential models (GGMs) have been published. This study evaluates the recent GOCE-based GGMs over the area of Poland. The evaluation has been performed with the use of the EGM08 as well as high-precision GPS/levelling control traverse consisting of 184 stations. One GOCE-only GGM, four GOCE/GRACE satellite-only GGMs, and one GOCE/GRACE GGM combined with terrestrial gravity data have been selected for the evaluation. - In the contribution the results of repeated precise levelling and GPS measurements at the central part of the Diendorf-Čebín tectonic zone (DCTZ) are presented. This morphologically very expressive tectonic system that belongs to a typical type of transcurrent tectonic system, with activity from Protherozoic up to recent period in separate parts is considered to be a seismoactive fault, too. Preliminary results at two measured profiles across central part of eastern marginal fault of the Boskovice Furrow confirmed expected vertical movement tendencies. 5. Local modelling of quasigeoid heights with the use of the gravity inverse method: case study for the area of Poland

- This paper presents examples of application of the method of local quasigeoid modelling based on the geophysical technique of gravity data inversion, using non-reduced surface gravity data and GNSS/levelling height anomalies. Its capacity is demonstrated with three examples consisting in computing detailed local quasigeoid models for three areas situated in Poland. The test areas are different in size (3,900, 23,000, 117,000 sq. kilometres), in geographic location as well as in density of the gravity data coverage. For each of the test regions, calculations were done in three variants, viz. without using any global geopotential model and with application of EGM96 and EGM08 models. 6. Multi-annual mass variations from GRACE monthly solutions: preliminary results

- The GRACE satellites have provided gravity field solutions with approximately monthly resolution since April 2002. The monthly solutions enable investigations of the annual, semi-annual and secular mass variations, which mainly occur in a thin layer of the Earth’s surface. By the end of the GRACE science mission in 2017, the time span has increased to 15 years, making the possibility of determining longer-period variations feasible. First attempts to determine multi-annual variations, i.e. periods of some years but less than 10, are presented in this study. A combination of 3 different PSD estimation methods has been used for identifying the regions of multi-annual mass variations. As a result, 8 different areas have been found with significant multi-annual mass variations. The source of multi-annual mass variations in most detected regions can be identified as related to the ENSO cycle. and Kiss Annamária, Földváry Lóránt.

- Obecná teorie relativity zformulovaná Albertem Einsteinem na počátku 20. století je klasickou (nekvantovou) teorií gravitace. Podle předchozí Newtonovy teorie z konce 17. století na sebe hmotná tělesa působí gravitační silou, kterou lze reprezentovat jediným skalárním potenciálem a jejíž změny se šíří nekonečně rychle. V Einsteinově polní teorii taková síla nevystupuje, gravitační účinky se vysvětlují deformací prostoru a času v okolí hmotných těles. Geometrie prostoročasu je popsána takzvaným metrickým tenzorem a její změny se šíří rychlostí světla. - General Relativity (GR) is traditionally viewed as too abstract and mathematically complex to be taught at upper secondary school. It is for students, however, a very interesting and, thanks to its astrophysical predictions, quite appealing part of physics. In this four-part series we will describe a way to introduce the basics of GR using only the language of upper secondary mathematics and physics; especially why physicists “tell us” that “gravitation is curvature of spacetime”. Individual articles: Non-Euclidean geometry, Geometrical view of gravitation, Time dilation and GPS and Gravitation as curvature of spacetime correspond with a series of ideas, which will hopefully lead to a better understanding of GR and ideally, also deepen interest in this beautiful theory as well as physics itself., V této části série se pokusíme motivovat souvislost mezi geometrií a gravitací. Ukážeme, že na rozdíl od jiných druhů interakcí má geometrický pohled na gravitaci smysl díky univerzálnosti jejího působení. Zmíníme se o slabém principu ekvivalence a ukážeme si Flammův paraboloid, dvojrozměrnou zakřivenou plochu, která má přímou souvislost s obecnou teorií relativity. Zároveň se budeme zabývat často zmiňovanou analogií připodobňující prostoročas k prohnuté pružné bláně., Matěj Ryston., Pozor!
