The article focuses on the concerns of Czech expectant parents and their subsequent life difficulties. A qualitative longitudinal methodology was used to study parental experiences for a period of around four years. Three waves of semi-structured interviews were conducted with sixteen dual-earner parental couples who had their first child in 2011 or 2012. An analysis of 93 interviews revealed that the fears of the parents-to-be principally concerned childcare, paid work, free time, the relationships, and health. Actual experience of difficulties in these areas was often mentioned by different respondents from those who had expected to have them. The theory of intensive motherhood was employed to underscore the heavy demands and responsibilities placed on contemporary parents and the difficulties that accompany the use of a child-centred approach. The heavy demands on childcare felt by mothers who adhered to the intensive mothering model were cited as causing difficulties in the everyday lives of parental couples; the fathers mainly complained of a lack of rest and quality time with their partners.

A. Almonda a S. Verby a následného vydání jejich známé knihy The Civic Culture: Attitudes and Perception of Democracy in Five Nations. Kromě toho se s využitím dat z předchozích dlouhodobých kontinuálních výzkumů veřejného mínění pokouší o stručný nástin vývoje občanské kultury v českých zemích v průběhu uplynulých dvaceti let po pádu komunistického režimu v roce 1989., Following text presents some findings concerning the civic culture in the Czech Republic based on results of a special survey conducted in August of 2009 as a part of international comparative research project commemorating the 50th anniversary of realization of G. A. Almond’s and S. Verba’s original survey and their classic study The Civic Culture: Attitudes and Perception of Democracy in Five Nations. Using data from continuous public opinion surveys the text also tries briefly to outline the development of civic culture in Czech countries during last two decades after fall of communist regime in 1989., and Jan Červenka.

What is the notion of citizenship that reveals itself in such varied and successive appearances as “civic” participation, “civil” society, and “civil” rights? Th e law provides us with positive defi nitions, defi ning individuals’ relationship to given states, which grant rights to participate in civil society. But such defi nitions conceal as much as they reveal. Th e full meaning of citizenship comes out only in relation to other categories which citizenship excludes. Th is is true not only because all categories of meaning are defi ned against their opposites, but also because citizenship as a specifi c category is characterized fundamentally by the principle of exclusion. Citizenship, typically conceived as a bundle of rights, functions de facto as a bundle of privileges, that is to say, of rights that must be granted, rights which (in spite of universalist justifi cations) are always granted to some and not to others, and which are granted on the condition that right-holders renounce their claims on other rights. Th e non-citizen tends to become not only uncivil but also uncivilized, deprived not only of specifi c civil rights but also of human dignity. Th e citizen is civilized while the non-citizen is made barbaric. It becomes necessary therefore to develop the following thesis: that the essence of the citizen is the proletarian tramp. The territory of southern Wallachia is one of the regions where St. Nicholas door-to-door processions have survived in many village as a viable phenomenon to which the flying of Devils closely relate. This phenomenon is a specific element that is, likewise the St. Nicholas door-to-door processions, among the most important, hitherto living and frequently practised traditions which strengthen the identity in local residents and which tie the population to their ancestors. The presence and structure of the flying of Devils support the theories that the residues of pre-Christian belief¨ideas could not be covered in the researched region even though the form of themasks is based on St. Nicholas door-to-door processions. We encounter a custom which includes several archaic elements. The aim of the study is to present the topic using an analysis of particular factors, which influence the form of them.

Obecná teorie relativity zformulovaná Albertem Einsteinem na počátku 20. století je klasickou (nekvantovou) teorií gravitace. Podle předchozí Newtonovy teorie z konce 17. století na sebe hmotná tělesa působí gravitační silou, kterou lze reprezentovat jediným skalárním potenciálem a jejíž změny se šíří nekonečně rychle. V Einsteinově polní teorii taková síla nevystupuje, gravitační účinky se vysvětlují deformací prostoru a času v okolí hmotných těles. Geometrie prostoročasu je popsána takzvaným metrickým tenzorem a její změny se šíří rychlostí světla. Chování zdrojů a prostoročasová geometrie jsou navzájem svázány Einsteinovými rovnicemi gravitačního pole.
