Diskutovány jsou tři drobné nálezy z Čech připisované tzv. köttlašské kultuře, resp. karantanskému okruhu. U náušnic či ozdob hlavy z Lékařovy Lhoty (okr. České Budějovice) a Nových Dvorů (okr. Nymburk) se uvažovaná souvislost s emailovanými ozdobami mladší köttlašské kultury zřetelněji neprojevuje. and On the origin of several early medieval finds in Bohemia. The work discusses three small finds from Bohemia previously attributed to the Köttlach culture, or the Carantanian cultural sphere. Such probable origin is presented for earrings or head decorations from Lékařova Lhota (České Budějovice distr.) and Nové Dvory (Beroun distr.); the finds likely date to the middle of the 9th century and were probably brought to Bohemia along the Danube Valley route. On the other hand, a small capital with the remnants of a stem from Libice (Nymburk district) did not demonstrate the speculated connection with the enamelled ornaments of the Late Köttlach culture.
Do okruhu vybraných otázek náleží: vývoj a charakter osídlení a opevnění, organizace plochy hradiště, charakter sídlištní zástavby, pohřbívání, sakrální stavby, doklady přítomnosti elity, doklady řemesel a obchodu, přírodní prostředí, charakter osídlení v okolí a zázemí hradiště. and The Early Medieval Budeč – the source material and a summary of knowledge (On the problem of central place function). This contribution is a balanced assessment of knowledge to date regarding the development and function of the hillfort at Budeč, one of the largest and archaeologically best investigated early medieval fortified sites in Bohemia. Among the questions raised are those of the development and character of settlement and fortification, the organisation of areas within the hillfort, the character of the settlement structures, burial, sacred structures, the presence of an elite, evidence for crafts and trade, the natural environment, the character of settlement around and in the hinterland of the hillfort.
Závěrem jsou porovnávány jednotlivé komponenty aglomerace – hrad, opevněné předhradí, jižní neopevněné předhradí a podhradí. and The current knowledge regarding Žatec in the Early Middle Ages. The submitted work provides a spatial demarcation of the early medieval Žatec agglomeration and addresses the development of this location. Due to the fact that the overwhelming majority of research has not yet been processed, the work approaches the subject in more general terms. The work likewise presents a chronology of early medieval ceramics at the site. Production pyrotechnical devices and archaeological minting artefacts from the 11th century are discussed in detail. The conclusion of the work offers a comparison of individual components of the agglomeration such as the castle, fortified bailey, the unfortified southern bailey, and the settlements below the castle.
Sledováním výskytu ozdob typických pro tento horizont lze na raně středověkých pohřebištích na Moravě a jihozápadním Slovensku vyčlenit ženské hroby, které byly uloženy v průběhu staršího velkomoravského období. and On the female jewellery of the Early Great Moravian period. This article aims to contribute to removing the discrepancy between the dating of male and female graves from Great Moravian cemeteries, amongst the causes of which is the late dating of the Veligrad jewellery set. It considers several, stratigraphically low-lying graves from Staré Město – Na valách that contain mature Veligrad jewellery; several of the types display similarities to jewellery known from the Late Avar milieu, which indicates that Veligrad jewellery existed at the beginning of the Great Moravian period and apparently even earlier. It is not only to Staré Město but also to several rural cemeteries (Dolní Věstonice, Prušánky) that the group of decorations comprising the fill of the “pre-Köttlach“ horizon, known from cemeteries of the Sopronkőhida-Pitten-Pottenbrunn type and dated to the last quarter of the 8th century, can be assigned. By following the appearance of decorations typical of this horizon it is possible for Early Medieval cemeteries in Moravia and South- West Slovakia to distinguish female burials interred during the Early Great Moravian period.
Sledovány jsou podíly značené keramiky, dále identické značky, jejich distribuce na lokalitě a konečně technologické vlastnosti výrobků, které pocházejí z téže dílny. and Maker’s marks on the bases of ceramic vessels from Stará Boleslav. The aim of this text is to make available a specific category of archaeological resource (ceramic maker’s marks) and to draw attention to the opportunities for the use of this resource in studying the history of pottery and the distribution of ceramics. One of the largest available assemblages is presented, that which was brought together in the Early Medieval castle at Stará Boleslav. The article considers the proportion of marked ceramics, as well as identity markers, their distribution over the site and lastly the technological properties of those products that came from these workshops.
