Autor se proto domnívá, že vyčlenění skupiny představuje již překonaný koncept archeologie minulého století. and On the basis of an evaluation of the eponymous site of Podmokly in North Bohemia, the article shows that the perception of the site and of the entire so-called Podmokly group was significantly influenced by two facts in the course of the development of research. First and foremost, the graves and finds from the Late Iron Age at the Podmokly cemetery and other sites were interpreted out of context. The other unfavourable factor was the focus of research on solving questions of ethnicity. The author comes to the conclusion that the group represents an inseparable part of continuous settlement in the Elbe ravine. A review of the definitions of the Podmokly group revealed that only a single artefact remains today for definition purposes – the so-called Podmokly pin. The author therefore believes that the differentiation of this group represents an outdated concept from twentieth-century archaeology.
Přestože některé z těchto kruhových struktur mohou být relikty původních mohyl vymezených žlaby či palisádami, některé konstrukční prvky a další indicie naznačují, že v řadě případů se nejspíše jednalo o kruhové pohřební areály, jejichž vnitřní plocha nebyla pokryta souvislým mohylovým násypem. and The paper presents an evaluation of the round burial area from the Middle Bronze Age discovered in 2008 during a rescue archaeological excavation in Nymburk in central Bohemia. The unique quality of the burial area lies in the fact that it is the first registered case in Bohemia in which burials are deposited directly in a round ditch, not in the central burial chamber in the space demarcated by this ditch. The paper likewise addresses the interpretation of features created by round ditches that are usually reconstructed as barrows. Although some of these round structures could be remnants of original barrows demarcated by ditches or palisades, certain construction elements and other evidence suggests that many of them could in fact have been round burial areas on flat ground whose internal space was not covered by a continual mound.
V oblasti Českého ráje nebyly dlouhou dobu pozdně paleolitické a mezolitické nálezy známé. Největší situace a kolekce přitom byly zkoumány již před druhou světovou válkou, dlouho však zůstávaly nerozpoznány. Teprve důkladná revize nálezového fondu v posledních několika letech umožnila rozšířit počet lokalit na dnešních 19. Vedle revizí jsme přistoupili i k novým revizním výzkumům. Z Českého ráje pochází i jeden z mála uměleckých předmětů mezolitu v ČR. Znalost této suroviny v mezolitu a její extrémně rychlé a široké rozšíření ukazují na kulturní kontakty mezi mezolitickou populací a prvními zemědělci. and For a long time, Late Palaeolithic and Mesolithic finds were not known in the region of the Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj). The largest sites and collections had already been explored prior to the Second World War, but these long remained unrecognised. It was not until a thorough review of finds in recent years that we have been able to expand the number of localities to today’s 19. In addition, we have also proceeded with new excavations. The Bohemian Paradise has even yielded one of the few works of art of the Mesolithic found in the Czech Republic. An interesting phenomenon is the use of Jizera-type metabasites, which served for making axes as early as the Mesolithic. Familiarity with this raw material in the Mesolithic and its extremely quick and extensive dispersion indicate the existence of cultural contacts between the Mesolithic population and the first agriculturalists.
Traditionally, only two native localities of Ligularia sibirica have been reported from the Czech Republic. In the present paper, a correction is made as to the founder of the locality between Jestřebí and Staré Splavy near Doksy (50°36'23" N, 14°36'54" E) which was discovered by J. Ch. Neumann in 1814 the latest, i.e. earlier than thought. The species has been retreating from this locality because of changes in environmental conditions, with the decrease of groundwater level after amelioration in 1928 being the most important factor. However, the species is not yet endangered in the locality. The second locality is between Bělá pod Bezdězem and Bakov nad Jizerou (50°29'45" N, 14°54'39" E) and it was not discovered by anybody of those reported up to now but by V. J. Sekera; the discovery was not made in 1854 but as early as in 1843. This locality consists of several populations and its size has increased during the last 100 years. Bohemian localities, which are rather distant from the continuous distribution of the species, originated in the early postglacial period (Praeboreal) and represent remnants of former more extensive distribution in this region. The cultivation of the species and its secondary occurrence are rare and mostly unimportant events.
Zvýšená pozornost je věnována výpovědi vyplývající z prostorové korelace zahloubených objektů dané kultury s obdobně datovanými intruzemi z mladších situací, pro jejíž studium naleziště poskytuje mimořádně příznivé podmínky. and The contribution to the spatial structure of the residential area at the end of the Middle Eneolithic period. Řivnáč settlement in the Vlíněves, Central Bohemia. Several years of excavations in the Vlíněves sand quarry (district Mělník) produced an evidence of abundant finds of various prehistoric periods including the Řivnáč culture of the Middle Eneolithic period (circa 3000 BC). The questions of variability in archaeologisation of Řivnáč culture opened landscape settlement forms are analysed based on published analyses of artefacts, plant remains, archaeozoological and anthracological finds. Special attention is paid to the spatial correlation of Řivnáč culture sunken features with the contemporary artefacts intruded into the features of later prehistoric periods. The site offers exceptionally suitable conditions for such study.
Nově identifikovaná kategorie středověkých artefaktů z českých archeologických fondů představuje jeden z atributů zacházení s drahými kovy. Šest dosud evidovaných předmětů datovatelných do raného středověku pochází z různých kontextů sociálních (hrad, sídelní aglomerace, ves) i archeologických (hrob, sídlištní objekt, hradiště). Autoři zdůrazňují nezbytnost potvrzení přítomnosti stop zkoušeného kovu chemickými mikroanalýzami, a to nejen pro interpretaci artefaktu, ale i pro poznání prostředí, které manipulovalo s drahými kovy i s podvrhy, a v neposlední řadě pro upřesnění názorů na dovednosti středověkých metalurgů. and A newly identified category of medieval artefacts from Czech archaeological inventories represents one indicator of the manner in which precious metals were handled: six objects date from various social (castle, settlement agglomeration, village) and archaeological (grave, settlement feature, hillfort) early medieval contexts. The authors emphasize the necessity of confirming the presence of traces from the tested metal by chemical microanalysis, not only for interpreting the artefacts themselves, but also for understanding the environment in which both precious and spurious metals were handled.
Práce přináší výsledky první geochemické analýzy provedené na pravěkých obsidiánových artefaktech z území Čech. Ke studiu bylo vybráno jedenáct vzorků s důvěryhodným datačním kontextem. Převážnou většinu analyzovaných vzorků je možné zařadit do období neolitu. Artefakty byly analyzovány dvěma nedestruktivními geochemickými metodami: hodnoty koncentrací zjištěné metodou pXRF byly kalibrovány pomocí výsledků LA-ICP-MS. Na základě výsledků je možné devět vzorků přiřadit s největší pravděpodobností slovenskému zdroji, surovina dvou vzorků pochází pravděpodobně z maďarských zdrojů. and The paper presents the results of the first geochemical analysis conducted on prehistoric obsidian artefacts from Bohemia. Eleven samples from reliably dated contexts were chosen for the study. The vast majority of the analysed samples can be classified into the Neolithic period. The artefacts were analysed using two non-destructive geochemical methods: concentration values determined by portable X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (pXRF) were calibrated using the results of laser ablation inductively coupled mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS). Based on the results, the origin of nine samples can, with the greatest degree of probability, be traced to Slovakia, the other two to Hungary.
Do okruhu vybraných otázek náleží: vývoj a charakter osídlení a opevnění, organizace plochy hradiště, charakter sídlištní zástavby, pohřbívání, sakrální stavby, doklady přítomnosti elity, doklady řemesel a obchodu, přírodní prostředí, charakter osídlení v okolí a zázemí hradiště. and The Early Medieval Budeč – the source material and a summary of knowledge (On the problem of central place function). This contribution is a balanced assessment of knowledge to date regarding the development and function of the hillfort at Budeč, one of the largest and archaeologically best investigated early medieval fortified sites in Bohemia. Among the questions raised are those of the development and character of settlement and fortification, the organisation of areas within the hillfort, the character of the settlement structures, burial, sacred structures, the presence of an elite, evidence for crafts and trade, the natural environment, the character of settlement around and in the hinterland of the hillfort.
Nové nálezy patrně importovaného nákončí pochvy meče rozšiřují dosud známou škálu těchto artefaktů z českého území. and An openwork bronze scabbard chape was found on the slopes of Pákova Hill in the Central Bohemian Uplands (cadastral territory of Lhota u Medvědic); based on exact parallels from Kelheim, it can be dated to the 11th century and/or beginning of the 12th century. Another fragment was found in Roudnice in the district of Hradec Králové, and another in Ždánice na Moravě, which featured slightly different openwork decoration. The new finds of apparently imported scabbard chapes increase the hitherto known scale of these artefacts in Bohemia.
Příspěvek jej uvádí do kontextu archeologických (zejména švýcarských) a dalších pramenů, otevírá otázku textilní produkce v hospodářství feudálních sídel, pokouší se o rekapitulaci zpráv o výzkumu z r. 1896, interpretaci tehdy odkryté situace a datování evropsky významného nálezového celku. and A pair of iron loom temple ends, previously considered as atypical arrows, was identified in the collection of finds from the Semonice fortified manor near Jaroměř (Eastern Bohemia). The find, dated by means of accompanying material to the beginning of the 14th century, is the oldest evidence of a horizontal loom and the related weaving technology within the territory of the Czech Lands. The paper puts the find in the context of archaeological (especially Swiss) and other sources, opens the question of textile production in the economy of feudal estates and attempts to review a research report from 1896 offering an interpretation of the context uncovered at the time and a dating of a find assemblage with European significance.
