Příspěvek shrnuje výsledky analýz environmentálních dat z lokality Ledčice a hodnotí jejich přínos k poznání této památky v souvislosti s výsledky terénního výzkumu. Kromě druhového složení byly hodnoceny i tafonomické charakteristiky souboru. and The work summarizes the results of analyses of environmental data from the Ledčice site and evaluates their contribution to our understanding of this monument in connection with the results of terrain excavations. Most significant from an archaeobotanical perspective is the find of grapevine, of which only a small number have heretofore been found at early medieval sites associated with the social elite. Osteological material is represented only by finds of domesticated ungulates (cattle, pig, sheep/goat, horse). Analyzed in addition to the species composition were the taphonomic characteristics of the assemblage.
Článek seznamuje s vyhodnocením archeobotanických a archeozoologických vzorků z výzkumu v Kosticích – Zadním hrúdu (okr. V mladohradištním období (11. až 12. stol.), kdy zde vzniká centrální lokalita druhého řádu (trhová ves), produkuje sídliště poměrné široké spektrum plodin i kvalitní maso pro sebe, a možná i pro nedaleké správní centrum v přemyslovské Břeclavi. and The article presents the evaluation of archaeobotanical and archaeozoological samples from the excavation in Kostice – Zadní hrúd (Břeclav distr.) conducted in 2009–2011. The work helps answer questions connected with the subsistence strategies of society in the period between the 6th century and the beginning of the 13th century in the lower Dyje River region of the Czech Republic. The recorded trend supports the archaeological image of a settlement that was part of the subsistence hinterland of the nearby centre at Pohansko near Břeclav during the period of Great Moravia in the 9th century. The decline caused by the collapse of Great Moravian society in the 10th century was followed by a revitalisation and subsequent boom in the entire settlement complex. In the Late Hillfort period (10th to 12th century), which saw the creation of a secondary location (market village), the settlement produced a relatively wide spectrum of crops and quality meat for its own needs and possibly also for the nearby administrative centre in Přemyslid Břeclav.
K zajímavým paleoekologickým zjištěním patří např. nízký vliv raně středověkého osídlení na lesní vegetaci a mezofilní charakter lesních porostů v nivě Povelky a Moravy, důraz na pěstování prosa a vysoký podíl žita mezi pěstovanými obilninami. and This contribution deals with an extensive collection of botanical ecofacts obtained in the years 1985–1987 at the early mediaeval site Olomouc-Povel (Zikova street). The settlement was surveyed in the 1980s, and due to the uniqueness of the situation it was interpreted as a pre-Great Moravian administrative and power centre. The excavation also included the collection of plant ecofacts and the sampling of sediments under study with the purpose of obtaining plant remains by flotation. The sampling was carried out with the aim to characterize the natural environment and basic attributes of the economy of the settlement agglomeration. Continuously waterlogged sediments made it possible to obtain, besides commonly encountered charred plant remains (charcoal pieces, charred plant macroremains), also a large amount of uncharred plant macroremains (seeds, fruits, uncharred wood), including a uniquely preserved set of leaf blades. Notable palaeoecological findings include, for example, a low influence of early mediaeval settlement on woodland vegetation and a mesophilous character of woodland stands in the basins of the rivers Povelka and Morava, an emphasis on the cultivation of proso millet, and a high proportion of rye among cultivated grain crops.
