Stále ještě neexistuje lepší vysvětlení než závěr, že lidé, kteří tyto odlišné postupy užívali, sami sebe nazývali Slovany. and The author presents the ideological system of the Old Slavs, which was used as the basis for comprehensive territorial units (župe), which gave the people their identity. The complex cooking system is also described. This appeared in the Balkans in the 7th and 8th centuries as a new system that was quite different from the previous system. There is still no better explanation for its appearance than that it was established by the people who named themselves Slavs.
Zpracování rozsáhlého souboru keramiky přispělo k poznání produkce keramiky na jižní Moravě v období po zániku Velké Moravy až do sklonku raného středověku, zároveň se podařilo definovat základní vývojové fáze lokality. and The article provides a description and analysis of an assemblage of post-Great Moravian and Late Hillfort pottery from the Kostice – Zadní hrúd site in the lower Dyje region. The pottery assemblage was processed using the statistical analysis of data. The processing of the large pottery assemblage contributed to an understanding of pottery production in south Moravia in the period following the demise of Great Moravia up to the end of the Early Middle Ages; the basic development phases of the site were also defined.
This paper discusses the pottery finds from the 2003–2005 excavation of the settlement at Pellendorf/Gaweinstal in the central eastern area of the Weinviertel district in Lower Austria. The early medieval settlement was occupied from the 7th to the 10th centuries. The pottery finds from the 9th/10th century are characterised by shapes typical of the Mikulčice and Blučina pottery groups and of the March pottery in southern Moravia, and thus revealing intensive contact to the Great Moravian centres on the River March in that period. The paper also mentions further sites with the same pottery in northern Lower Austria, which, taken as a whole, indicate that in the 9th century the area was culturally, economically, and thus presumably also politically, closely connected to the Moravian Empire. and Výzkum sídlištní lokality Pellendorf/Gaweinstal ležící ve středu východní části oblasti Weinviertel (Dolní Rakousko) poskytl v letech 2003–2005 keramický materiál, který je diskutován v předložené studii. V celkovém pohledu tento nálezový inventář svědčí o úzkém kulturním, ekonomickém, a patrně i politickém propojení příslušných oblastí Dolního Rakouska s Velkou Moravou v 9. století.
Rámcové datování do 9.–10. stol. vyplývá z charakteru hrobových a sídlištních nálezů, přičemž významnou roli hraje keramika. In the years 1968 and 1976, the archaeological excavations at the site of Žabník, situated app. 500 m to the south of the perimeter wall of the central part of the Great Moravian castle of Mikulčice, revealed remains of an early medieval burial ground and settlement. According to vertical stratigraphy, the burial ground consisted of two phases and the settlement of just one. The approximate dating to 9th-10th century results from the nature of the grave and settlement finds. An important role is played by pottery. While the grave vessels bear witness of Great Moravian provenience, the settlement pottery is represented by typologically more advanced products of post-Great Moravian nature. Moreover, the settlement pottery represents a distinctive ceramic type with specific morphological and technological features that has not yet been documented within the Mikulčice agglomeration in a more numerous representation – that is why it has been preliminarily designated as the Žabník pottery type.
Na základě rozboru keramiky ze situací spojených se zánikovou fází ohrazení dvorce autorka stanoví dobu zániku palisády, resp. dvorce, a zařazuje ji do historických okolností známých z dalších pramenů. and This article is a methodological contribution to the clarification of the period involving the demise of the ducal curtis at the Early Medieval stronghold at Budeč in Central Bohemia. The grounds of the curtis that featured a palisade enclosure (ca 4500 m2) also included the Rotunda of St. Peter in the south western part of the stronghold acropolis, which was founded by Duke Spytihněv I (ruled 895–915) according to written records from the 10th century. Based on an analysis of pottery from the situations linked to the phase of the demise of the enclosed curtis, the author determines the period of the demise of the palisade enclosure, or the curtis, and places it into historical contexts known from other sources.
