Jedním z fenoménů spojujících po několik set let okolo roku 4000 př. Kr. Beroun. Práce přináší kromě zevrubného vyhodnocení nálezové situace a všech získaných pramenů první soubor radiouhlíkových dat, zahrnujících i příslušné analýzy z dalších českých vícenásobně přerušovaných ohrazení. V návaznosti na ně je řešena jejich chronologická pozice, kulturní příslušnost a původ fenoménu v Čechách, a v neposlední řadě postavení trubínského objektu v jejich rámci. and One of the phenomena linking the broad area from the Atlantic to central Europe for several centuries around the year 4000 BC is various forms of causewayed enclosures, which are multiply interrupted. Bohemia forms the eastern periphery of their expansion, though few works have been published on this topic to date. The subject of the submitted article is the presentation of one of these causewayed enclosures found in the town of Trubín in the Beroun district. In addition to a detailed evaluation of the find situation and all of the obtained sources, the work provides the first set of radiocarbon dates and the relevant analyses from other Bohemian causewayed enclosures. In connection with them, the article establishes their chronological position, cultural affiliation, the origin of the phenomenon in Bohemia and, last but not least, the standing of the Trubín enclosures in their framework.
Kr. Z více pozoruhodných zahloubených objektů jsou publikovány dva nejvýznamnější – zahloubená chata a dílenský objekt. Datování radiokarbonovou metodou AMS doplňuje relativní chronologii; fyzikálně chemický rozbor strusek z objektů a kapek tavenin na tyglících potvrdily práce s taveninami železa a bronzu na sídlišti; analýzy četných úlomků jantaru potvrzují transport této suroviny od Baltského moře. and The paper focuses on discoveries from the early La Tène settlement in Chržín, Kladno distr., providing documentation of rare production activities and long-distance contact with southern and northern Europe. New findings from this Central Bohemian low-land settlement are examined in the broader context of the cultural development of Europe in the 6th and 5th centuries B.C. Remarkable finds are offered by several sunken features, with only the two most significant published here – a sunken hut and a workshop feature. Relative chronology is supplemented by AMS radiocarbon dating. Physical and chemical analyses – X-ray diffraction, determination of selected trace elements (FAAS), electron microanalysis (EDX) – of slag from the features, and of drops of metal on the furnaces, have confirmed that iron and bronze were worked at the settlement; analyses of numerous amber fragments have confirmed that this raw material was transported from the Baltic sea; and information on a rondel made from a child’s skull was provided by an anthropological assessment.
The cold hardiness of individuals from overwintering populations of a freeze susceptible bug Pyrrhocoris apterus from central and southern Europe differed significantly. Supercooling point (SCP) correlated well with both lethal temperature (LT50) and lethal time (Lt50), and is agood index of cold hardiness of adults during and after diapause. In January, diapause terminated, but cold hardiness was similar to that recorded in November; cold hardiness decreased slightly in March and markedly in May. Short exposure (less than a week) to higher temperatures before termination of diapause did not reduce the cold hardiness. Cold hardiness did not closely follow air temperatures. The Bulgarian bugs retained lower cold hardiness regardless of acclimation to harsh field conditions in the Czech Republic. The interpopulation difference is therefore a heritable character representing an adjustment to local climates.
J.-C. plutôt que balkanique. and Considerations about the meaning and the origin of the pectoral-brooch from Želenice in Bohemia. The pectoral-brooch from Želenice, discovered in 1843, is one of the most illustrated and discussed Iron age archeological discoveries from Bohemia. A new research, based on a Late bronze age pectoral from Slovakia, indicates a symbolic representation of the measure to correct the difference between lunar and solar year (two supplementary months every five years). Before, only three evidences are known: an engraving on stone slab from Knowth in Ireland, from the fourth millenium B.C., the Slovak pectoral, dated around 1200 B.C., and the calendar of Coligny, second century A.D. The origin of the pectoral-brooch from Želenice, now dated in the fifth century B.C., seems to be central alpine area rather than Balkans.
The almanacs represented an important source and constituent part of the popular culture in the „long“ nineteenth century. The text focuses on the by now slightly studied almanacs of Czech Protestants and, as a supplement, also contains its register. First Protestant calendars were published after the authorization of Protestant denominations at the end of the eighteenth century, but due to the economic weakness of these minorities soon ceased to exist. The next wave of their publishing was connected with liberalism of the middle of the nineteenth century and the social emancipation of Protestants. But the defeat of the revolution of 1848 again caused their demise. Systematic publishing of Protestant almanacs took place only in the last third of the nineteenth century, when their principal role was the gradual deepening of the confessional consciousness. From the beginning of the twentieth century these almanacs were used in the efforts for uniting of Czech Lutheran and Reformed Churches. This union was realized after the constitution of Czechoslovakia in the year 1918. Later Protestant almanacs were mostly regular ecclesiastical yearbooks without broader implications.
During archaeological excavations of three La Tène features in 2001 and 2002 at the periphery of the Velké Zboží and Malé Zboží cadasters (Nymburk district), a total of 33 animal bones were obtained. Only domestic mammals were determined in the material: cattle, sheep/goat (of which only sheep is reliably documented), pig, horse and dog. A valuable find from feat. 8 (LT C2-D1) is a horn core from a domestic cattle (Bos taurus), which shows signs of pathology. The pathology comes in the form of a depression on the anterior surface, which leads to the narrowing of the horn. Such pathology is considered to be the result of long-term use of a forehead yoke. The find represents one of a few documented cases of the use of the yoke in prehistory in the territory of today’s Czech Republic. A hornless sheep is documented at another feature. and Při archeologickém výzkumu tří laténských objektů v letech 2001 a 2002 na hranici katastrů Velkého Zboží a Malého Zboží bylo získáno celkem 33 zvířecích kostí. V materiálu byly determinovány pouze domácí druhy savců: tur, ovce/koza (z nich spolehlivě doložena pouze ovce), prase, kůň a pes.
Použití draselno-vápenatého skla k jejich výrobě poskytuje další doklad inovačních procesů evropského sklářství. and Using visual observations and chemical analyses, it is possible to distinguish a separate type of Early Medieval beads designated as „G-beads“ on the basis of the material from which they are made. Finds of these beads are typical for the horizon of Early Medieval burial sites in Bohemia. The inventory of grave goods includes olive-shaped beads, Danube River basin jewellery and jewellery of Great Moravian origin or tradition. Along with the olive-shaped beads, the G-beads can be regarded as another indicator of the production of glass jewels in central Europe at the end of the 9th century through the first half of the 10th century. The use of wood-ash glass in the production of the beads is further evidence of the innovative processes employed in European glassmaking.
Pro kulturní i absolutní zařazení velkých souborů předmětů, získaných výzkumy prakticky pod ornicí, scházejí nesporné morfologické, stratigrafické a jiné přírodovědné argumenty. Data vzešlá z těchto výzkumů autor porovnává s výsledky z precizně zkoumaných evropských lokalit. Současně shrnuje aktuální stav bádání o starém paleolitu v Evropě a do jeho kontextu řadí nejstarší doklady přítomnosti člověka z Čech a Moravy. and The aim of the article is to point out the uncertainty accompanying studies of the Palaeolithic period in Bohemia, particularly in recent publications. Indisputable morphological, stratigraphic and other natural science arguments are lacking for cultural and absolute classification of larger assemblages of finds obtained by terrain excavation. The author of the article compares the data resulting from these excavations with meticulously investigated European sites. At the same time, the author also summarises the current state of research into Early Palaeolithic Europe and classifies the oldest evidence of man in Bohemia and Moravia into its context.
Na podporu teze není shledán dostatek argumentů ani ve výpovědi písemných pramenů, ani v dostupném nálezovém fondu. and The article evaluates critically a theory searching for the impulse for the emergence of late La Tène opppida in the north Italian region of Emilia Romagna, where the Celtic tribe of Boii is reported to have dwelt in the 4th - early 2th centuries B.C. After summarising both written and archeological sources for the period and region in question, its interpretation is approached in light of this evidence and subsequently of discussions on the problem which are taking place in Italian archaeology. The theory is found to be insufficiently backed by both written sources and by archaeological evidence.
The article reconsiders the premises of a hypothesis according to which several pottery sherds found in the late La Tène oppida in central Bohemia imitate Mediterranean ceramic forms. The idea of the formal imitation of concrete vase types is questioned on the grounds of chronological and formal inconsistencies. Instead of a problematic theory of formal imitation, functional inspiration is proposed as a more appropriate mechanism to explain the reception of the Mediterranean influence. In one case, only change of the object’s chronology (to the early La Tène period) could help it maintain its status of an imitation.
