Úvod: Existuje mnoho studií věnujících se problematice biliárních komplikací po jaterních resekcích. Přes zlepšení operační techniky a perioperační péče má incidence této komplikace spíše vzrůstající charakter. Byly analyzovány četné prediktivní faktory. Na jejich vliv na vznik biliárního leaku doposud nepanuje shoda. Za cíl analýzy jsme si stanovili zhodnotit incidenci biliárního leaku, jeho vliv na mortalitu a na dobu hospitalizace na našem pracovišti. Současně jsme provedli rozbor známých prediktivních faktorů. Metoda: Autoři retrospektivně analyzují soubor 146 nemocných, u kterých byla na Chirurgické klinice 2. LF Univerzity Karlovy a ÚVN, Praha v období 2010–2013 provedena jaterní resekce. K vyhodnocení biliárního leaku jsme užili současnou uznávanou klasifikaci ISGLS (International Study Group of Liver Surgery). Závažnost komplikace byla stanovena dle Clavien-Dindo. Statistickou významnost prediktivních faktorů jsme určili pomocí Fisherova exaktního testu a Studentova t-testu. Výsledky: Incidence biliárního leaku byla 21 %. Dle ISGLS bylo 6,5 % pacientů zařazeno do skupiny typu A, v 61,2 % se jednalo o leak B a v 32,3 % o leak typu C. Stupeň závažnosti dle Clavien-Dindo I-II, IIIa, IIIb, IV a V byl v poměru 19,3 %, 42 %, 9,7 %, 9,7 %, resp. 19,3 %. Jako statisticky významné jsme stanovili tyto faktory: operaci pro malignitu (p<0,001), velkou jaterní resekci (p=0,001), dobu operace (p<0,001), vyšší peroperační krevní ztrátu (p=0,02), konstrukci HJA (p=0,005), portální venózní embolizaci/two-stage chirurgii (p=0,009) a ASA skóre (p=0,02). Biliární leak významně prodloužil dobu hospitalizace (p<0,001). V souboru pacientů s biliárním leakem byla 23krát vyšší perioperační mortalita (p<0,001) než v souboru bez leaku. Závěr: Biliární leak je jednou z nejzávažnějších komplikací jaterních resekcí. Většina rizikových faktorů je těžko ovlivnitelných a na jejich vliv nepanuje jednoznačná shoda. Incidenci by mohly redukovat diskutované peroperační leak testy. V budoucnu bude třeba dále pracovat na zlepšení perioperačního managementu a techniky k prevenci vzniku této závažné komplikace. V léčbě se uplatňuje multidisciplinární přístup., Introduction: Many previous reports have focused on bile leakage after liver resection. Despite the improvements in surgical techniques and perioperative care the incidence of this complication rather keeps increasing. A number of predictive factors have been analyzed. There is still no consensus regarding their influence on the formation of bile leakage. The objective of our analysis was to evaluate the incidence of bile leakage, its impact on mortality and duration of hospitalization at our department. At the same time, we conducted an analysis of known predictive factors. Method: The authors present a retrospective review of the set of 146 patients who underwent liver resection at the Department of Surgery of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University and Central Military Hospital Prague, performed between 2010−2013. We used the current ISGLS (International Study Group of Liver Surgery) classification to evaluate the bile leakage. The severity of this complication was determined according to the Clavien-Dindo classification system. Statistical significance of the predictive factors was determined using Fisher‘s exact test and Student‘s t-test. Results: The incidence of bile leakage was 21%. According to ISGLS classification the A, B, and C rates were 6.5%, 61.2%, and 32.3%, respectively. The severity of bile leakage according to the Clavien-Dindo classification system – I-II, IIIa, IIIb, IV and V rates were 19.3%, 42%, 9.7%, 9.7%, and 19.3%, respectively. We determined the following predictive factors as statistically significant: surgery for malignancy (p<0.001), major hepatic resection (p=0.001), operative time (p<0.001), high intraoperative blood loss (p=0.02), construction of HJA (p=0.005), portal venous embolization/two-stage surgery (p=0.009) and ASA score (p=0.02). Bile leakage significantly prolonged hospitalization time (p<0.001). In the group of patients with bile leakage the perioperative mortality was 23 times higher (p<0.001) than in the group with no leakage. Conclusion: Bile leakage is one of the most serious complications of liver surgery. Most of the risk factors are not easily controllable and there is no clear consensus on their influence. Intraoperative leak tests could probably reduce the incidence of bile leakage. In the future, further studies will be required to improve the perioperative management and techniques to prevent such serious complications. The author reported clinical characteristic features and risk factors for acute intestinal infections in 225 children (140 boys and 85 girls, mean age 1.5 years old). 90 (40%) patients aged up to 12 months, 101 (44.9%) were from 1 to 2 years old, and 34 (15.1%) were more than 2 years old. Most children were hospitalized in the first week of illness and had moderate severe course of disease. Severe forms of illness reliably more often were noted in children being on artificial feeding. Toxicdystrophic condition, severe forms and perinatal encephalopathy were prevailed in boys. Factorial analysis revealed 20 most significant factors with factorization fullness 70.8%. The most significant factors were F1( factor of hyperthermia duration) with 8.5% effect, F2 (factor of pain syndrome) 5.8%, F3 (factor of normal enzymatic activity of colon bacillus) 4.9%, F4 (etiological factor) 4.6%, as well as F5( factor of opportunistic flora of the intestine) 4.4%, respectively., Mukarram Shadjalilova, and Literatura
Assaultive acts committed by people with a mental illness is a major public health issue that affects patients with their families, law enforcement authorities, and the public at large. Failure to provide treatment is in fact a major predictor of assaultive acts in patients with schizophrenia living in the community. Considering that the indigenous ethnic groups of Central Asia have similar sociocultural characteristics, these factors may be reflected in individuals with schizophrenia who have committed serious assaultive acts in Uzbekistan. Objectives: The aim of the work was to identify the sociocultural and clinical characteristics of schizophrenic representatives of indigenous ethnic groups of Central Asia who have committed violent crimes in Uzbekistan and have been found insane in regard to their offence, and to compare these subjects to ones belonging to the other ethnic groups. Material and methods: The data were collected in 2010–2013 in the Tashkent High Security Psychiatric Hospital via face-to-face interviews and also from the patients’ charts and from forensic psychiatric examination statements. Results: The sample consisted of 201 individuals. The sample was 90.1 percent (n = 181) male, with a predominance of the paranoid schizophrenia subtype according to the ICD-10 criteria. Of the subjects, 174 ones (86.6%) were representatives of the indigenous ethnic groups of Central Asia, and 27 ones (13.4%) were representatives of other ethnic groups. The duration of illness among the subjects belonging to the indigenous ethnic groups of Central Asia was less than in the other group; the individuals were rarely referred to psychiatric care because of the popularity of alternative medicine and the stigma attached to mental illness. A positive correlation between violence and various psychotic symptoms, such as delusions, hallucinations, and thought disorder, has also been demonstrated in this group. The aim of our study was to determine the significance of lymphocyte-platelet adhesion (LPA), interleukins, transforming included 139 pregnant women aged between 17 and 27 years (21.3±4.22 years). GH was diagnosed in 119 women after 20 weeks of pregnancy. 20 patients (control group) were with physiological course of pregnancy. The distribution of patients by groups was carried out according to the level of blood pressure (BP) in accordance with ICD-10 (Geneva, WHO, 2002). The survey was conducted at the moment of detection pregnancy from 7 to 10 weeks and in dynamics of I, II and III trimesters of gestation. In the dynamics of gestation, were studied the number of desquamated endothelial cells circulating in the systemic circulation (CECs), nitrates levels, the adhesion of platelets by estimation their ability to form co-aggregates with lymphocytes by determining the percentage of lymphocytes aggregates with thrombocytes (lymphocyte-platelet plugs), at risk of hypertensive disorders, especially after 20-22 weeks of gestation and later, lymphocytes ability to platelets adhesion is rose, the concentrations of pro-inflammatory cytokines and NO level are increased. Riziko CNS progrese u vysoce agresivních lymfomů (lymfoblastový a Burkittův lymfom) dosahovalo v historických souborech až 30%, podařilo se jej však výrazně snížit pomocí intratekální profylaktické terapie a inkorporací systémových cytostatik prostupujících hematoencefalickou bariéru do léčebných protokolů. U ostatních agresivních lymfomů je riziko CNS progrese nižší (pod 10 % v recentních studiích), avšak u vybrané skupiny nemocných se může i zde pohybovat kolem 25–30 %. Bohužel, na rozdíl od lymfoblastového a Burkittova lymfomu se u jiných agresivních histologií nepodařilo profylaktické úspěchy zopakovat. Tento článek se zabývá incidencí, rizikovými faktory a možnostmi profylaxe CNS relapsu u imunokompetentních pacientů s difuzním velkobuněčným B-lymfomem, lymfomem z buněk pláště, periferními T-lymfomy a primárním mediastinálním B-lymfomem. Zmíněny jsou rovněž možnosti terapie CNS progrese, pokud nastane., The risk of CNS progression in highly aggressive lymphomas (lymphoblastic, Burkitt‘s) reached up to 30% in historical cohorts, but it was significantly diminished by intrathecal prophylactic treatment and by incorporation of systemic cytostatics penetrating blood-brain barrier into treatment protocols. In other aggressive lymphomas, the risk of CNS progression is lower (under 10% in recent studies), but in selected patients can even here reach 25–30 %. Unfortunately, unlike in lymphoblastic and Burkitt‘s lymphomas, prophylaxis does not seem to be particularly effective in other histologies. Úvod: Delirium jako projev mozkové dysfunkce je častá komplikace u kriticky nemocných. Kritické onemocnění představuje nezávislý rizikový faktor pro výskyt delirantních stavů. Prevalence deliria se u kriticky nemocných pohybuje mezi 11 a 87 %. Delirium je poddiagnostikováno, ačkoli významně zhoršuje prognózu. Cílem naší práce je podpořit zavedení skríningového testu deliria CAM‑ICU (The Confusion Assessment Method for the Intensive Care Unit) do běžné praxe a tím umožnit jeho včasnou diagnostiku, prevenci a léčbu.> Metody: Prospektivní hodnocení incidence deliria a rizikových faktorů jeho rozvoje u pacientů přijatých na šestilůžkovou JIP v období únor až červen 2014. Delirium bylo vyšetřováno metodou CAM‑ICU. Použili jsme českou verzi testu brněnské skupiny autorů. U všech pacientů jsme hodnotili rizikové faktory (preexistující a precipitující). Ke zhodnocení jsme použili Fisherův exaktní test (u kategoriálních znaků) a dvouvýběrový Wilcoxonův pořadový test (u numerických znaků). U všech testů byla použita hladina významnosti p = 0,05. Závěr: Ze 142 pacientů bylo delirium hodnotitelné u 125 pacientů. Pro nemožnost vyšetření deliria CAM‑ICU testem vzhledem k perzistujícímu kómatu a jednou pro jazykovou bariéru bylo vyloučeno 17 pacientů. Incidence deliria dosáhla 31,2 %. Šlo o smíšenou populaci pacientů traumatologických, chirurgických a interních s mediánem APACHE II (Acute Physiology And Chronic Health Evaluation) rovným 12. Vyšší riziko rozvoje deliria je u pacientů s primárně interním onemocněním a po traumatu ve srovnání s pacienty chirurgickými. Výskyt deliria ovlivňuje tíha onemocnění (APACHE II), užití analgosedace, vazopresorů. Delirantní pacienti pobývali na JIP déle, rovněž potřeba umělé plicní ventilace byla vyšší. Any critical disorder is an independent risk factor for development of delirium. The prevalence of delirium in critically ill patients has been reported between 11 and 87%. Delirium is under-diagnosed even though it significantly worsens patient prognosis. The aim of our study was to support regular use of the Confusion Assessment Method for the Intensive Care Unit (CAM-ICU), in order to facilitate early diagnostics, prevention and treatment of delirium. Method: A prospective study of the incidence of delirium as well as risk factors for its development in patients admitted to six-bed ICU from February to June 2014. All patients were assessed for predisposing and precipitating risk factors using the Czech version of CAM-ICU. Fisher’s Exact Test and Wilcoxon Rank-Sum were performed with the significance level of 0.05. Results: Delirium was diagnosed in 125 of the overall group of 142 patients. Seventeen patients were excluded from the study as they could not be assessed (16 due to prolonged coma, one due to language barrier). The incidence of delirium reached 31.2%. Within the study group consisting of surgical, medical and trauma patients with the median APACHE II score of 12, medical and trauma patients were more likely to develop delirium than surgical ones. Development of delirium was associated with the severity of the disease (APACHE II score), use of sedatives, analgesics and vasopressors. Delirious patients stayed longer at the ICU and they showed higher need for artificial ventilation. Spánek se významně podílí na celkovém zdraví a kvalitě života člověka, je důležitý nejen pro duševní a fyzickou regeneraci, ale také pro normální funkci metabolických pochodů, endokrinního a imunitního systému. V moderní společnosti dochází k postupnému zkracování délky spánku v důsledku celé řady faktorů. Epidemiologické studie v posledním desetiletí potvrdily, že spánek kratší než 7 hodin představuje rizikový faktor pro rozvoj obezity, diabetu mellitu 2. typu, hypertenze, kardiovaskulárních onemocnění, depresí a zvyšuje riziko mortality. Cílem této práce bylo zhodnotit délku spánku a posoudit vztah mezi délkou spánku a BMI u dospělé populace (n=478, 18–65 let). Metoda sběru dat zahrnovala 7denní záznam o délce spánku za den a antropometrická měření. Z výsledků vyplynulo, že průměrná délka spánku v souboru činila 7,45 (±0,91) hodin za den. 28 % dospělých osob přesto spalo méně než doporučených 7 hodin denně. Statisticky nejméně spali jedinci ve věku 40–49 let (průměr 7,2±0,80 hodin). Riziko obezity definované jako BMI ≥30 kg/m2 v souboru stoupalo se zkracující se délkou spánku: pro kategorie spánku [<6,3 h], [≥6,3 až <8,3 h] a [≥8,3 h] bylo riziko obezity na základě relativních četností vyjádřeno poměrem 2 : 1,5 : 1,2. Jedinci spící průměrně <6,3 hodiny vykazovali 1,3krát vyšší riziko obezity než ostatní jedinci spící déle i při zohlednění faktoru věku, tento závěr však není statisticky významný (OR=1,256; 95% IS: 0,631; 2,422). Z hlediska prevence obezity se dostatečný a kvalitní spánek jeví jako významný ochranný faktor, který by zejména v současné době rychlého životního tempa a při stoupajícím počtu obézních jedinců neměl být, vedle zdravé stravy a dostatečné pohybové aktivity, opomíjen., Sleep plays a significant role in overall health and in the quality of human life. It is not only important for mental and physical regeneration, but also for the normal functioning of metabolic processes, for the endocrine and immune systems. In modern society there is a gradual shortening of the length of sleep due to a number of factors. In the last decade a number of epidemiological studies suggest that sleeping less than 7 hours a day increases the risk of developing obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and depression and is associated with premature mortality. The aim of this study was to evaluate sleep duration and to assess the relationship between sleep duration and BMI in the adult population (n=478, 18 to 65 years). The method of data collection consisted of a 7-day record of the length of the sleep per day and anthropometric measurements. The results showed that the average sleep duration was 7.45 (±0.91) hours per day. However, 28% of adults slept less than a recommended 7 hours a day. The individuals aged 40–49 years slept statistically the shortest time (mean 7.2±0.80 hours). The risk of obesity increased indirectly with duration of sleep in this population, for sleep categories [<6.3 h], [≥6.3 to <8.3 h] and [≥8.3 h] the risk of obesity defined as BMI ≥30 kg/m2 was 2 : 1.5 : 1.2 based on the relative frequencies of obese and non-obese participants. Individuals sleeping on average <6.3 hours were at 1.3 times higher risk of obesity than other individuals sleeping longer after adjusting for age, this conclusion was not statistically significant (OR=1.256, 95% CI: 0.631; 2.422). Po prvním záchvatu je nutné určit, zda se jednalo o záchvat epileptický nebo neepileptický, a v případě záchvatu epileptického pátrat po možné akutní příčině. Odlišení záchvatů neepileptických a také identifikace záchvatů epileptických provokovaných (akutních symptomatických) je z hlediska stanovení dalšího postupu, ať již diagnostického či terapeutického, zcela zásadní. Pro odlišení jednotlivých typů záchvatů jsou rozhodující údaje v anamnéze se zaměřením na detailní popis průběhu záchvatu a okolností jeho vzniku, poté i výsledky pomocných vyšetření. Akutní symptomatické záchvaty představují až 40 % všech prvních epileptických záchvatů a vznikají v těsné časové souvislosti s probíhajícím postižením centrálního nervového systému (CNS) různé povahy. Jejich příčina je jasně identifikovatelná – nejčastěji se jedná o akutní cévní mozkové příhody, kraniocerebrální poranění, zánětlivá onemocnění CNS, významné jsou ale i vlivy primárně extracerebrální – toxické a metabolické poruchy, užívání léků nebo alkoholu. Pokud jde o první epileptický záchvat neprovokovaný nebo reflexní, je možné jej v případech přetrvávající predispozice s vysokým (> 60 %) rizikem opakování dle nově přijaté definice považovat za epilepsii, případně i zahájit dlouhodobou léčbu antiepileptiky. Po prvním neprovokovaném záchvatu by mělo být vždy doplněno vyšetření mozku magnetickou rezonancí v adekvátním protokolu. Z hlediska posouzení rizika opakování záchvatu má kromě anamnestických údajů význam i případná abnormita v EEG či odchylky v objektivním nálezu svědčící pro postižení CNS. Zahájení léčby je po prvním záchvatu indikováno při vysokém riziku opakování či při zvýšené pravděpodobnosti závažných komplikací dalšího záchvatu., Following a first seizure, it is important to establish whether this was an epileptic or non-epileptic seizure, and to ascertain possible cause of an epileptic seizure. With respect to further management, diagnostic or therapeutic, it is crucial to differentiate non-epileptic from epileptic seizures and to identify provoked epileptic seizures (acute symptomatic). Patient history with a detailed description of the course of a seizure and circumstances under which it happened is instrumental in discriminating between the different types of seizures. Complementary investigations can further support the diagnostic process. Acute symptomatic seizures represent up to 40% of all single epileptic seizures and occur in close chronological proximity to an ongoing central nervous system injury of various origins. The source can easily be identified – most frequently this is an acute cerebrovascular event, craniocerebral injury, inflammatory CNS disorder, while primarily extracerebral effects are also important – toxic and metabolic disorders and drug or alcohol abuse. Unprovoked or reflex single epileptic seizures in patients with persisting predisposition and a high risk (> 60%) of relapse may, according to the new definition, be regarded as epilepsy and long-term antiepileptic treatment may be initiated. MRI under appropriate protocol should always be performed after the first unprovoked seizure. The risk of seizure recurrence can be estimated based on patient history as well as any EEG or physical examination abnormity that suggests an injury of the CNS. Antiepileptic treatment is indicated in patients with a single seizure if there is a high risk of recurrence or an increased likelihood of severe complications of further seizures. Cíl: Hlavním cílem výzkumného šetření bylo zjistit, které faktory ovlivňují pouţívání ošetřovatelských diagnóz v klinické praxi. Dalším cílem bylo zjistit rozdíly v hodnocení faktorů ovlivňujících pouţívání ošetřovatelských diagnóz v praxi podle věku, vzdělání a typu pracoviště. Metodika: Pro získání dat byl sestaven nestandardizovaný dotazník zaměřený na zjištění faktorů ovlivňujících pouţívání ošetřovatelských diagnóz. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 253 registrovaných všeobecných sester z 9 zdravotnických zařízení v České republice. Sestry hodnotili na Likertově škále od 1 do 5, jak jednotlivé faktory ovlivňují pouţívání ošetřovatelské diagnostiky v praxi. Výzkumné šetření probíhalo od června 2011 do listopadu 2011. Výsledky: Podle našeho výzkumného souboru nejvíce ovlivňují pouţívání ošetřovatelských diagnóz v praxi následující faktory: počet pacientů na 1 sestru, administrativní zátěţ, syndrom vyhoření, nedostatek času, rozdíly v teorii a praxi a nedostatek personálu. Statisticky významné rozdíly v hodnocení faktorů podle věku byly zjištěny v hodnocení 2 faktorů: rozdíly v teorii a praxi, nedostatek motivace. Podle dosaţeného vzdělání byly statisticky významné rozdíly zjištěny v hodnocení 4 faktorů: nejednotnost ošetřovatelských diagnóz, terminologie diagnóz, rozdíly v teorii a praxi, rutinní práce. V závislosti na typu pracoviště byly statisticky významné rozdíly nalezeny v hodnocení 5 faktorů: terminologie diagnóz, rozdíly v teorii a praxi, nedostatek praktických zkušeností s ošetřovatelskou diagnostikou, rutinní práce, syndrom vyhoření. Závěr: Rozeznání faktorů ovlivňujících pouţívání ošetřovatelských diagnóz v praxi a zlepšení institucionální podpory můţe ulehčit implementaci ošetřovatelské diagnostiky v klinické praxi, Aim: The main aim of the study was to identify which factors influenced the use of nursing diagnoses in clinical practice. Another aim was to ascertain whether age, education and type of workplace affected the relative importance accorded to these factors. Methods: A non-standardized questionnaire on factors influencing the use of nursing diagnoses was administered to a sample consisting of 243 registered general nurses from 9 healthcare facilities in the Czech Republic. Using Likert´s 5-point scale, the nurses rated the importance of several factors in influencing their use of nursing diagnoses in practice. The research was conducted between June 2011 and November 2011. Results: Based on our sample, there are several factors which influence the use of nursing diagnoses in practice. Some of them are: number of patients per nurse, administrative strain, burnout syndrome, lack of time, discrepancies between theory and practice, lack of staff. Statistically significant age-related differences in rating factors were found for the following: discrepancies between theory and practice, lack of motivation. Statistically significant differences in ratings relative to education were found for four factors: disunity of nursing diagnoses, diagnostic terminology, discrepancies between theory and practice, workplace routine. Based on type of workplace, statistically significant differences in ratings were found for five factors: diagnostic terminology, discrepancies between theory and practice, lack of practical experience in nursing diagnostics, workplace routine, burnout syndrome. Cieľ: Cieľom štúdie bolo analyzovať faktory ovplyvňujúce dentálnu hygienu, medzi ktoré patrí konzumácia sladkostí a sladených nápojov u školskej mládeže z hľadiska veku a pohlavia a zároveň analyzovať výskyt dentálnej hygieny počas dňa. Metodika: Súbor respondentov tvorilo 1187 žiakov (620 dievčat a 567 chlapcov) vo veku 11, 13 a 15 rokov v oblasti stredného Slovenska. Zber údajov prebiehal v období máj 2010 až jún 2010. Na zber údajov bol použitý štandardizovaný dotazník vytvorený pre potreby HBSC štúdie (Health Behaviour in School – aged Children). Výsledky boli vyhodnotené Chí-kvadrát testom. Výsledky: Sladkosti a kolu v jednotlivých vekových kategóriách konzumuje každý deň alebo viac krát za deň približne tretina respondentov. Výskyt umývania zubov viac ako raz denne je približne rovnaký vo všetkých vekových kategóriách od 53% u 11 ročných chlapcov do 64% u 15 ročných dievčat. Vo všetkých vekových kategóriách dievčatá udávajú častejšie umývanie zubov v porovnaní s chlapcami. Záver: Výsledky poukazujú na zvýšenú konzumáciu sladkostí a koly počas dňa u školskej mládež stredného Slovenska, čo môže spôsobovať zvýšenú kazivosť zubov. Dentálna hygiena je v našom súbore respondentov nedostačujúca. Na základe získaných výsledkov je možné konštatovať, že potreba zvyšovania úrovne vedomostí nielen detí, ale aj rodičov o zásadách správneho stravovania a o zásadách dentálnej hygieny je neodmysliteľnou súčasťou výchovy k zdraviu a preventívnych opatrení v školskom veku., Aim: The aim of the study was to analyse the factors affecting dental hygiene such as consumption of sweets and sweet soft drinks in school-aged pupils in terms of their age and gender and at the same time to analyse the occurrence of dental hygiene during the day. Methods: The set of respondents consisted of 1187 pupils (620 girls and 567 boys) at the age of 11, 13 and 15 years in the area of central Slovakia. The data collection was conducted in the period of May 2010 to June 2010. For data collection was used standardized questionnaire for HBSC studies (Health Behaviour in School–aged Children). The results were analysed by Chi-square test. Results: Approximately one third of respondents in each category consumes sweets and Coca-cola every day or several times a day. The occurrence of cleaning the teeth more than once a day was equally proved in all age groups ranging from 53% in 11 years old boys to 64% in 15 years old girls. The girls of all age groups indicate more frequent cleaning of teeth in comparison with boys. Conclusion: The results show increased consumption of sweets and Cocacola during the day in the school youth from central Slovakia, which may cause an increase in tooth decay. Dental hygiene in our set of respondents is insufficient. Based on the obtained results is possible to state that the need for higher level of knowledge, not only in children but also in parents about the principles of proper diet and proper dental hygiene is the integral part of the preventive measures and health education at school age., Mária Kožuchová, Martina Bašková, and Literatura 18
