Linear Band Pottery (LBK), Stroked Pottery (SPC), Moravian Painted Ware (MPWC) cultures developed in Moravia during the Neolithic period. Based on the currently available radiocarbon dates, this period lasted for 1800 years. The LBK lasted for 550 years and the MPWC for 1150 years. There is a 100 year hiatus between these cultures, when Moravia was inhabited by people practicing the SPC. With increasing knowledge and more radiocarbon dates, it has become apparent that the current ideas about the development of the Neolithic need revision due to discrepancies between the traditional scheme and new empirical data. Chronology building on the basis of the 14C method is currently the most accurate dating technique for this period., Martin Kuča, Josef Jan Kovář, Miriam Nývltová Fišáková, Petr Škrdla, Lubomír Prokeš, Miroslav Vaškových, Zdeněk Schenk., and Obsahuje seznam literatury
This article presents the extraordinary discoveries of ceramic vessel deposits in wells of the Funnel Beaker culture (FBC). Such a custom is observed in all groups of this community but is of particular importance in the Eastern group of the FBC. In central Poland (Kuyavia) specifically, there are many objects of this type compared to older materials of the Linear Pottery culture. The analysis of the local contexts of these finds allows for the hypothesis that the two communities are closely related to be proposed. and Článek pojednává o mimořádných nálezech keramických nádob ve studnách z období kultury nálevkovitých pohárů (KNP).
This paper presents an overview of the latest information about the beginnings of the technology of pottery making in the area of the forest-steppe belt in Siberia and the Russian part of Eastern Europe all the way to the Ural Mountains. From a continental point of view, a brief spatiotemporal diagram presents a completely different background of the beginnings of pottery in our lands and also in corresponding parts of Southeast Europe, where the origin of pottery has traditionally been linked to the Neolithisation of Europe. The earliest pottery technology in China dates back to 20 000 BP, followed by all the subsequent data from the Far East area to Lake Baikal. The earliest pottery culture, Jomon, which had been developing in Japan for more than ten thousand years, is not included here. In the Russian part of Eastern Europe, pottery technology starts developing only after 8 000 BP. Typologically uniform and mostly unchangeable development of beaker-shaped pottery, mostly with a pointed bottom, is common for both these areas. This development continues in Scandinavia and adjacent areas of the Baltic and in Atlantic Europe. In the central parts of Europe, similar shapes only occur sporadically in the earliest period. However, the earliest Eurasian pottery had influenced the development of later prehistoric periods. Numerous settlement groups on the Eurasian continents were characterised by two traditions that are archaeologically recognisable. In simple terms, one of the traditions was agricultural, the other conservative. and Práce předkládá přehled nejnovějších informací o počátcích technologie výroby keramiky v oblastech lesostepního pásma Sibiře a ruské východní Evropy až k Uralu. Data nejstarší keramické technologie v Číně přesahují číslo 20 tis. BC.
The object of the paper is to update the current concept of the chronology of the Neolithic (c. 5400–3300 BC) of the Czech Republic and northern Lower Austria by comparing the typo-chronological development of been perceived in Central Europe as “basic indicators” of archaeological cultures or pottery traditions, which are then further divided into chronological stages and phases. And yet, an analysis of the relation-ships of all three levels of these entities in the context of four types of models of radiocarbon dates indicates that changes in the original material culture do not necessarily occur on a time axis. While it is true that archaeological cultures have proven to be the robust materialisation of primarily chronological trends valid in larger geographic areas, at the level of general and more detailed pottery groups, development can be manifested in other ways (regionally, socially or in a way that is difficult to interpret). and Cílem práce je revidovat současnou koncepci chronologie neolitu v České republice a na severu Dolního Rakouska (ca 5400–3300 BC), a to na základě konfrontace typo-chronologického vývoje keramiky a modelace odpovídajících radiokarbonových dat.
The reported research in Malżyce, site no. 30, situated on one of the of the vast loess-covered elevations of the Małopolska Upland has brought valuable data on the Funnel Beaker (TRB) and the Corded Ware (CWC) cultures in West Małopolska. The central grave of the TRB barrow was accompanied by five chronologically younger graves of the CWC and three graves of the Early Bronze Age Mierzanowice culture. In the TRB grave two vessels and a flint trapezium were found. In its size and constructional traits the Malżyce TRB barrow is analogous to various CWC features of this type. But becouse of its dating – the TRB tumulus in Malżyce cannot be regarded as a valid argument for deriving CWC burial mounds from TRB structures., Krysztof Tunia, Piotr Włodarczak., and Obsahuje seznam literatury
The article aims to present the results of the analysis of eight Neolithic ceramic figurines from the Lengyel culture settlement Těšetice-Kyjovice – Sutny, Czech Republic. We indicated the possibilities for acquiring analytical data, although destructive methods were unacceptable. We included methods neglected to date, but widely available in the common archaeological laboratory. Information on the composition of the ceramic matrix, the provenance of inclusions, the techniques used for shaping, firing, operating and discarding are all of key importance for advancing the discussion on the interpretational potential of ceramic anthropomorphic figurines from typological and religionist discourses to analytically-focused discussions supported by hard data. Two serious factors have thus far prevented the widespread use of analytical methods: the destructive nature of the evidential analyses, which is contradictory to heritage protection and general awareness of the value and rarity of such finds. The second factor relates to the prohibitive cost of analyses when applied to a statistically robust number of samples. On the other hand, in the absence of broad mapping of measurable data, we will remain dependent on only individually published analyses of isolated samples, typically from a different culture, period or geographical territory. We believe the use of non- and semi-destructive methods offers a solution. With the aim of achieving the lowest destructive impact, we conducted an analysis of eight ceramic figurines by use-wear analysis, high resolution 3D analysis, portable-X-ray fluorescence (p-XRFmeasurements and microscopy of polished sections. and Příspěvek představuje výsledky analýzy osmi neolitických plastik ze sídliště lengyelské kultury Těšetice-Kyjovice – Sutny.
Na příkladu severního Třeboňska je taktéž diskutována možná koexistence lovecko-sběračských a zemědělských komunit. and The article expands the existing modest knowledge of the Neolithic occupation of south Bohemia. The core of the work is an analysis of assemblages from excavations of the Dehtáře and Radčice settlement areas and at the newly discovered site of Mažice conducted in the 2015 and 2016. Analyses of the pottery decoration
and radiocarbon dating confirmed occupation in the Šárka phase of the Linear Pottery culture. Simultaneously, the dominant use of chert of the Ortenburger Jura was proven in this period for the production of chipped stone tools. Analyses of basic categories of finds create a framework for the revision of the superregional contacts of the south Bohemian Neolithic population. The strong connection between south Bohemia and the eastern part of the Bavarian Danube Region and settlement in the vicinity of the Austrian city of Linz was recorded for the late phase of the Linear Pottery culture. Focusing the north Třeboň Basin region, the possible coexistence of hunter-gatherer and agricultural communities is also discussed.
Zároveň získaná radiokarbonová data obohacují naše poznání o aktivity probíhající na Bílém kameni v pozdním středověku a raném novověku. and The article presents a current view of the issue of the Neolithic mining site of Bílý kámen near Sázava (Czech Republic, Benešov district). The results are based both on an analysis of earlier finds and on the finds from a new archaeological excavation. The findings show that the traditional idea of one of the most important monuments of prehistoric mining activities of non-silicate rock in Central Europe will need to be substantially revised. The fact that it is not the main source of the raw material of marble bracelets during the period of the Stroked Pottery culture (5100/5000–4500/4400 cal BC) opens new space in a seemingly long-resolved discussion. Radiocarbon data enrich our knowledge of the activities taking place at Bílý kámen in the Late Middle Ages and Early Modern period.
